  • I have always been against Latin American Catholics coming to the states because it is simply too hard to remain Catholic here.  Better to remain poor and Catholic than well off and Protestant.

Even though I myself am not a Spaniard, I don't like it when people confuse Amerindians, mestizos and others from South America with Hispanic people. They are about as Hispanic as Turks are German.

Most mestizos are of Spanish descent.

Anyway, Latin American is a much more sensible term than hispanic.

    What's so "Latin" about Mexicans?

  • Can someone tell me why Puerto Rican culture is  just secular to extreme degrees rejecting authority, work, civil living, marriage, education, good parenting, promoting very young promiscuity, multiple out of wedlock births? It's much worse than urban black culture.

In Puerto Rico their Bishops tried to stand up against contraception but were slammed by the the American bishops and their quest to remain Catholic ended.

Why try to be Catholic when you have to fight against the heads of your Church to do so?  Much easier to go the other way if your religious leaders fight against keeping your territory Catholic.
"I receive Thee, redeeming Prince of my soul. Out of love for Thee have I studied, watched through many nights, and exerted myself: Thee did I preach and teach. I have never said aught against Thee. Nor do I persist stubbornly in my views. If I have ever expressed myself erroneously on this Sacrament, I submit to the judgement of the Holy Roman Church, in obedience of which I now part from this world." Saint Thomas Aquinas the greatest Doctor of the Church
