I have on one of the vapid morning talk shows right now, and they are interviewing Ruby Bridges, reflecting upon how she had to be escorted by marshals to class, in the face of opposition to segregation.
I was at once reminded of the draconian measures that are having to be taken, to ensure safety for the events of this coming Wednesday. It's pretty pathetic that they have to go to such lengths. Might indicate that these events are opposed by many. Might indicate that we are being forced to accept it.
Best wishes to Miss Bridges for having endured something that was so positively right. (If this comment gets me downvotes, I have no words. That's about you, not me, and definitely not about Miss Bridges.)
