I must also respectfully disagree. That the Rome would become the seat of the anti-Christ does not mean that the anti-Christ himself would take power at this time. Our Lady could be referring to the spirit of the anti-Christ. I believe we are in a dress rehearsal for the anti-Christ. The man of the anti-Christ will come at the end of the Era of Peace.

I believe that the problems with the Crimea should be laid at Stalin's feet. It was he who annexed the Crimea to the Ukraine. When the Ukraine became independent it had already inherited a large predominantly Russian area.

Identifying "the Beast" as the antichrist as referenced in the Book of Apocalypse, it seems clear antichrist comes prior to the period of peace and the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart (unless you can point out my error!):

The Russians and Ukrainians contributed to the mess also by electing a series of corrupt politicians and not adopting a productive and cohesive set of common values, laws and morals after the collapse of communism.

After 70 years you basically had a bunch of weak willed go along to get along people who would put up with any old crap from their leaders for a mess of pottage. They should have been rioting 15-20 years ago when the oligarch class were on the rise, instead of drinking themselves into oblivion and waiting for a handout.

Now a generation of people have grown up who want something more and that is the underlying reason for the change.

People who don't intelligently involve themselves in the political process are doomed to these sorts of periodic tensions and sufferings far more than people who do engage.

Wait till generation stupid are ruling the west with all their fαɢɢօt-loving ideas. We're gonna be just as screwed, if not more so.

I heard a talk by Bishop Williamson, in which he acknowledged there were 2 schools of thought on this. But, in any case, we will all certainly recognise the antichrist when he turns up.

However, I do believe that the messages demonstrate that now is the time of antichrist and the prime reason this is important, is so the faithful can make spiritual and temporal preparation for the severe and long persecution he will direct at us.

Putin is just using the Russian Orthodox Church for political gain. He has the church completely under his thumb. Patriarch Kirill I moved into the Kremlin in 2011. Interesting to note that both Putin and Kirill I had strong ties to the KGB. The Russian Orthodox Church was controlled by the KGB during communist rule.

We can applaud Putin for the crackdown on ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖs but ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖity was criminalized under Stalin too. Do we praise Stalin?

Putin lamented the collapse of the Soviet Union and called it a great tragedy.

The situation in Ukraine likely won't lead to anything good.

Leaders of the Christian churches in Ukraine have joined in a plea to Russian leaders to “abandon the military and other… interference in the internal affairs of Ukraine.”

The statement by the Ukrainian Church leaders says that Russian military intervention especially is “a threat not only to our country but to the peace and security of the entire European continent.” The statement was All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and signed by the group’s leader, Metropolitan Onufry of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow patriarchate.

In a related development, Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill of Moscow has responded to a plea from Metropolitan Onufry by promising to “do everything possible to persuade those in power that they cannot allow destroying peaceful people in the Ukrainian land so dear to my heart.” The Russian primate said that although the Moscow patriarchate would not take sides in a political dispute, the Orthodox Church would do everything possible to prevent military conflict.
