  •   The day I heard, I thought it was just a pun, but after reading more it felt there was a bigger meaning behind such statements.
Before the results of polls in America were published, we heard our authorities saying they hoped "Hussein Oo ba ma" to be the president.
Well the word 'Obama' is written exactly like 'oobama' in Farsi, that means 'he with us'. So the whole thing means 'Hussein who is with us'.
       Any insghits?
(A while after he was elected statement like 'oobama nist' that is 'he is not with us'. appeared on some newspapers......)
Anyway, he was a promising figure for moslems who prefer to stress on the word 'Hussein' and 'bama'.
As a side note: Imam Hussein was most warlike and political-minded Imam, signifying militant islam and martyrdom.

They probably thought that Obama was not pro-Israel and was not war-like as much as Bush was, but that demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of how power works in the US.  In the US system, powerful industrial-financial complexes are the oligarchy that create and sustain all political power and action.  Since these forces are the same ones that created and maintain Israel -- and since the interests of Israel and the US are therefore identical -- there is not a president of the US who could possibly be elected without being their agent.  Once they realised what Obama will actually do in regards to Iran and his policies in the entire Middle East and against Russia, that is why they most likely starting saying "oobama nist."  I am surprised they ever thought anything else.
