  • In Reno- 33 firefighters going to be laid off and 3 stations closed.

So, the 33 firefighters decide to sue the city on collective bargaining issue and of course claiming they need to keep their jobs because of public safety.

This has to do with a 4 million dollar shortage in funds.

Now here is what the union does, it comes to the table and demands an 8 percent pay raise. This will mean another 15 firefighters will get laid off.

A few years ago we had a couple dozen cops laid off. The city actually came up with a way to save those jobs but it was voted down by the old fat cops who wanted to keep their over-time pay. Instead the union argued the meter maid guys who are not union should get fired so a couple cops could keep their jobs- well, those parking meter guys were actually earning a profit for the city.

The reality is there are thousands of young guys out there who would take those jobs for a fraction of the price.

    Real cute.

  • These public unions plan their strikes months, even years in advance.

Right now, in any state, there are teacher's union reps planning the location of the next strike.  The location will be a place that is largely trouble free but the purpose of the union is to force higher taxation and higher pay for already overpaid union workers.  Even if everything is flowing nice and smooth in the school system in your state, those degenerates are planning a sneak attack.

I get the whole union thing for coalminers or steelworkers and even baseball players, but for public (government) workers?

  • I am an associate member of the USW however it seems to me that the government should emulate Calvin Coolidge breaking up the Boston police force on strike in 1919, or Reagan firing those air traffic controllers on strike, the only union who supported Reagan.

When the national safety is in jeopardy we cannot let a strike deter government employees from doing their job.

When it comes to teachers' unions they want to force children to attend public schools and not allow school choice (while saying that is because they oppose the "1%" of corporate types who supposedly support school choice) and they also support anti-nationalist and humanist principles in school along with sɛҳuąƖ education.
