  • Hi, recently I have been considering my political beliefs and can't quite settle on an ideology/party. As a Canadian, i support the Conservatives and believe in the Westminster style Parliament except I wish the queen and Governor General had more actual power. I'm looking for guidance from my fellow traditionalists.

    on the political compass:http://www.politicalcompass.org/test

    my results were:

    Economic Left/Right: 3.38
    Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 6.92

  • Well, just for starters, many on here don't believe in the "two-party" system.

You commented on my old thread about neo-con Republican propaganda -- you may not realize that I'm vehemently against Obama and the democrats.

I don't consider myself a Republican though either -- though I sometimes vote for them as the "lesser of two evils".

Both sides are *almost exactly the same* especially in the practical realm. Stay a while, read the news and think, and you'll see how true it is. Obama has continued virtually *all* of Bush's policies, almost as if it's a 3rd Bush term. There have been countless articles written about this phenomena.

It's not open for debate -- the two party system is a farce, designed to let us "throw the rascals out" every 4 years, while marching ever onward toward a nєω ωσrℓ∂ σr∂єr agenda -- the agenda of those who REALLY have the power (which aren't the same ones you see in government on the TV)

  • I'm not a fan of the two-party system either. I prefer a monarchy with a parliament but the monarch has most of the power and the Upper House has the say in parliament. Don't worry I wasn't accusing you of being a bloody Democrat and for the record I didn't find the posters amusing either some of my best friends are muslim.

  • My local repulican US rep.  stated about a year ago that he supported the unions because he thought there should be a third rail of power between big government and big business.

  • What about paleo-conservatives like Patrick Buchanan? How do you feel about Republicans like him?

  • I supported him every time he ran.  He stated when he ran that most americans will not get rich off the stock market but what most americans want is a good job.  I guess he saw it coming, I mean the collaspe of the middle class us economy.  Now we live in the "rush limbaugh" economy which envies  Chinese type controll and efficiencies.  Men serving economies not economies serving men.  Even Mitt Romney has made statements how he admired the Chinese economy, and I voted for him in the last Republican primary. Hey everybody is getting paid by someone.

  • I'm closest to the paleocons like Buchanan.

Matthew, any good articles on how the two parties are the same?

My Neo Con friends think this is preposterous and point to abortion and taxes as two big differences right off the top.

    Thanks.

  • The form of government is indifferent, though there are some practical advantages to one form versus another.  The virtue of the men who occupy the offices is what counts and the principles upon which the government rests.  A wicked monarch is easier to deal with than a mob of wicked people who ostensibly take the place of the monarch in a democracy.  But when neo-pagans and unbelievers of all sorts occupy exercise governmental authority over Catholics, S. Thomas teaches that this is a form of sacrilege.  The fact that Catholics have grown accustomed to this state of affairs is a sad fact.  And when Bishops consort with politicians and neo-pagan governments, meddling in political matters, presenting themselves as political activitists by profaning their office, it infinitely aggravates an already bad situation, e.g. making formal statements on specific acts of legislation which is wholly within the scope of civil authority.  They are the blind leading the blind.

  • Well said Caminus. I think Monarchy is the most noble form of government when dedicated to Catholic principles.

My sentiment exactly. The only thing that could ever make me love Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II more would be her conversion to Catholicism. God Save the Queen!

until 2004, like him-but he is now a sell out-he called for conservatives to come home to the GOP, though GOP is controleldby NWO as much as any other..also, he stated in 2004 that Peroutka was a "Buchananite", Peroutka modeled much of his run in 2004 after Pat, but Pat then turned around and could not support Buchananite!!!

No guts, no glory, and few Americans have guts to vote for and promote a third candidate,etc...

that said, a Monarch-Catholic of course-would be best, with a legislature for day-day things and to assist...said Monarch would be guided and reigned in by the Church and in emergencies, by either a regent, some other member of hte family or legislature if push came to shove (say he went nuts or something)...David was reigned in by the prophet when he fell....

I would add, I still support individual candidates of the Constitution Party, and I was a state head at one time of state party affiliate....can no longer support the Party in totum....

Actually Queen Elizabeth II is the rightful Queen of England. In regards to the first Elizabeth, Saint Edmund Campion recgonized her to be the true Queen of England but refused to renounce his Faith and was martyred. I forget exactly when but about 300 years ago, the Vatican released a docuмent recgonizing the then English knig and dynasty as the legitimate rulers of Britain despite being protestants. There is a great difference between being loyal to the Queen (and being Catholic at the same time) and embracing the heresies of Anglicanism or recgonizing the Queen as the head of a true Church.

  • I was referring to the Bull:

    Regnans in Excelsis

Far as I know-and in a separate thread no one was refuted this to date-the Bull is still in effect in Britain...even if not know, was then...though again, no one said it was not in effect still....
