  • Can someone from Australia explain the background in order to give some context to this cartoon?

  • I had the same reaction and I’m an aussie.
I can say that the first red car is driven by the Premier of Victoria. The white bus at the rear is driven by Scomo aka Scott Morrison (PM) The red and yellow would be symbolic of affiliation to China. I cannot recognise the other drivers. I do not follow state politics.
Cobwebs show that there is no movement happening, I presume.

Donkath should be able to explain when she sees your request.

  • The front car is occupied by Labour (Socialist) Queensland Premier Palaszczuk and
Vic. Premier and Daniel Andrews (Socialiast +++) worst of the State Premiers
The remaining three cars are occupied by the other three Premiers of remaining States.  Each state has its own constitution.

Most of the premiers have locked down their states so that Australians cannot cross the borders.  This is a shocking situation as people cannot visit relatives, go to funerals, get hospital treatments if needed in another State etc. etc.  Heavy fines apply and the police are everywhere as well as pimps.

The big truck at the back shows the prime minister, Liberal Scott Morrison, furious with the States because they have locked down their borders.   He won’t stand up to them a force them to comply.

So the cartoon shows the uncaring premiers sleeping and dozing facing a green GO light but happily and deliberately refusing to move.   It speaks for itself to show how weak the PM is when he could bite the bullet, but he is afraid because there has been a (probably organised) rebellion of voters demanding the rights of States to not be dominated by Canberra (Seat of Govt/Scott Morrison).

Daniel Andrews Is the worst of the Premiers.  He has already betrayed the country by going over the Aust. Govt.’s head by borrowing directly from Commie China.  It is why the cartoonist depicts him with a red star and a Commie uniform.  Shows how weak Scott Morrison is.

Daniel Andrews also has Victoria (where I live) in total lockdown - that is more severe than other states.  We can only go so many metres outside our homes.  We cannot visit each other.  People have lost their livlihoods, especially small businesses -many of them will never recover.  The Govt. is  printing money and giving it to countless unemployed folk - working class people.   Mental illness, ѕυιcιdє, bashed spouses has all increased.  People cannot stand being alone.

And of course masks are mandatory right across the country.

    Thank you, Donkath.

I think you mean state, not country.

They are not mandatory in NSW and not in Queensland, whence I recently returned, just prior to the border closing again between NSW and Qld. We spend a sunny month in FNQ.

  • Thanks for correction Nadir.

Today's  national Paper says it all -

Not a cartoon,  just added it to complete original reply requesting explanation.

  • Daniel Andrews, in the Chinese commie uniform is the Victorian Premier confronting the pyjama-clad Treasurer, Josh Fryberg and the Prime Minister, Scott Morrison.

  • Without a mask? That's €40!

    That's a deal, hop in!

Men are not bound, or able to read hearts; but when they see that someone is a heretic by his external works, they judge him to be a heretic pure and simple ... Jerome points this out. (St. Robert Bellarmine)
