Your description of David Bawden reminds me of Rutherford-Johnson: "reasonably intelligent man, entirely normal temperament, who lives with his mother in a farmhouse in Kansas, and just happens to be under the impression that he is the Pope of Rome."
Indeed "a one-man Fraternite-Notre-Dame on crack".
Not quite. Bawden's achievements (aside from having been elected Pope by a circle of immediate family and possibly a few others...) are quite modest compared to all of the things Rutherford claims to have done, moreover, Rutherford gives the impression of being fairly well-to-do, quite the world traveler, and has a somewhat attractive young wife (!), and five children (!!!) on top of that, four of them apparently married. He looks awfully young to have four married children, but maybe he's just got good genes.
The guy seems to have a pretty sweet life. Nice work if you can get it.
