Ilhan Omar suggests that merit-based immigration would harm Latino immigrants, since... she must be suggesting they're dumber than most (?) How is that not racist by the common definition of the term?

Ted Cruz took her to task, and rightly so.

I guess this is another example of the "soft racism of low expectations". Kind of like those who say requiring an ID for voting harms blacks, since...  why? are they dumb apes who don't have drivers licenses? Again, that suggestion strikes me as quite racist, to use the term how it's used today.

I remember there was a "man on the street" video where an interviewer asked many blacks if they had a drivers license, if they knew where the DMV was, etc. THEY ALL HAD ONE, and they thought it was ludicrous that they didn't know where the DMV was in their town. Dem propaganda destroyed!
