What I don't understand is why, to all appearances, it's now officially called "Obamacare". I was under the impression that that was a term of abuse coined by Tea Partiers.

It was, but the Tea Partiers failed to comprehend the utter worshipfulness underlying and forming the mind-set of the statist Obama constituency.* The media and other money figures who serve as the puppeteers of the marionette in the White House have no illusions of his greatness—indeed, of his very competence. But since the era of Woodrow Wilson, a central aspect of the program of the Left has been to carefully nurture what the Maoists very, very aptly called the cult of personality.** That program, alas, will soon culminate in the USA becoming a nonwhite, non-Christian, Third World country with Semitic overlords who will encourage the new majority to treat the descendants of the founding populations with the same "respect" that white people in post-apartheid South Africa are now accorded.

We have not quite yet reached the point where an American emperor president (at least a Democratic one) is considered a living god—like Pharaoh or those Persian rulers whom the Athenians laughed derisively at as they called them "Asiatic"—but that has been the goal for a hundred years now.*** The importation of a new population, one that shares none of the history of easygoing distrust, even scorn, for politicians and officeholders that the stubborn and principled and tirelessly industrious people (however wrongheaded they may have been in countless other ways) of largely northern European origin who settled this country had in abundance, has made the success of this divinization project a foregone conclusion, barring some unforeseen benefaction (or calamity of global scope).

In short, the Tea Party has become a character that is at home only in Alice in Wonderland. For at least a third of the people now living in this country, to name a program after the divine Obama is to ratify its well-meaningness and virtue and efficacy. It is to place oneself in alignment with the forces of heaven. For the moment, failure to be properly aligned might get you only the equivalent of the raised fists we saw the enemies of the Cross brandishing last week in Argentina at the "hate-filled" reciters of the Rosary. But h0Ɩ0h0αx h0Ɩ0cαųst skepticism, once learned of, already endangers one's livelihood, and I may even live to see imprisonment and summary execution for lèse majesté for a much wider range of transgressions against the almighty government.

* I.e., the entirety of the "diverse" population and the Jєωιѕн-staffed ruling class in Hollywood, New York, Washington, and the electronic media Neverland (Facebook, Twitter, etc.).

** While the Maoists used "cult of personality" as a slur, they knew perfectly well that Mao himself was as much the product of such a cult as Ramses II or a late Byzantine emperor. The point was to eliminate the competition.

*** Look at the way that people are reacting right now to the fiftieth anniversary of the death of a certain president, people who weren't even born when that witless, oversexed Bostonian with the cheap and ineradicable Southie accent was elected! Even the astute and insightful Anthony Benedict, whose opinion I am second to none in valuing and applauding, thinks JFK would have done a good to very good job had he lived to complete his term. I, on the contrary, see JFK as having been the author of all the international messes he "got us out of" by the skin of our teeth. Indeed, had his old man's prodigious wealth and influence not come to his rescue, JFK would have been court-martialed for the PT-109 disaster, and the nation (and I myself!) might not have had to endure a war in Southeast Asia that he was quite as responsible for instigating as his evil and disgusting Texan successor. What's more, there would have been none of those idolatrous cults presaging the cult of His Obamanableness: no Bobby, no Teddy, no Mama Rose, no Patrick, no [fill in the blank with the Kennedy of your choice]. Probably no murdered Martha Moxley either.
