I am a 62 yr old 'white' male living in Kalifornia. Does anyone know if I can get a free Obama Phone?

I don't see why they wouldn't give you one. I might try to get one as well, if they refuse I'll blacken my face & arms & go back wearing the standard uniform of baggy trousers & a football shirt with a number, that way if they still won't give me one, I'll start screaming "you a racis, you just don't wanna gib me one 'cause I black!!!!!" That ought to make them pack it in & hand one over in short order.

It's an error to call it an Obama phone when this phone credit was put into place by Reagan.

I had to Google that one. I've never heard of an "Obama phone" ... despite the fact that I do know what Lifeline is.

It's the same credit, but several years back they allowed it to be used for cell phones as well as land lines. So what happens is the cell phone company sends you the phone, and free credit is the amount of minutes you get each month. I've had one for about two years and I got one for my mom too.

The conservatives decided to add this to their entitlement scapegoat list this year, attributing it to the current administration.

I just now saw all the replies to this, I didn't think it was that bad. Quite a lot of American blacks actually carry on like this, I've seen it. One would think that I'd called for their extermination or something. Anyhow, if it means that much, I take it back.

Another misconception, people who get assistance for the poor does not work or pay bills.
