  • My thoughts on the tax bill

I am SO happy (yes downright HAPPY) that the obamacare mandate has been abolished!  Finally!

    Time to celebrate.

As to other parts of it:

I don’t think there should be property tax breaks for homes that are $750,000! $200,000? Maybe.. Sorry, but I don't feel sorry for people who have far more money than they need—not when there are many homeless and otherwise destitute people in this country, some of whom actually DO want to work (yet there are no jobs available in their area and/or other serious problems).

I was disappointed about the corporate tax rate.. I agree w/ Trump, that it should be 15% (not 21%). Maybe next time?

When business does well (assuming said business is legal/ethical), we all do well (well... almost all).

Also, I think companies should be given tax breaks for being located in or near rural areas where there are few job opportunities.

I am unclear whether there is a tax incentive in the bill for companies to come back from overseas? I would think so. I think they should get some kind of  tax break to cover the costs of moving back to the US, like no taxes for a year or something

I am glad the child tax credit is doubled.

Rubio wants it to be an even bigger deduction. We are below zero population growth in the US, so yeh.. we need to encourage people to have children (not only for the sake of the population crisis of course) and not punish them in any way. However, I don't think Rubio should oppose the bill. He (they) can work on raising the child tax credit later.

  • people should be allowed to have children w/o feeling it will bankrupt them

but that said, there should also be classes in Jr High and High school about how difficult it is to be a parent, esp a single parent. fornication should be seen for the trap it is... emotionally, financially and every other way.

Y is it the libs promote promiscuity and then judge people when they are promiscuous? That is what is happening these days... They want promiscuity (the abortionists anyway) for obvious $$ reasons.. but the libs also want it for other reasons

then they have the nerve to act just SOOOO horrified when something like sɛҳuąƖ harassment happens...

    they make me sick

I wish people would listen to the Church.. and I wish the Church would evangelize its teachings better...

  • Corrections
needed in one of my posts (RE tax relief)

I am Sorry I said this:

“I am SO happy...  the obamacare mandate has been abolished!"  as though the bill has already passed. It hasn't, although I tend to think it will..

Also, I might have made a mistake about property taxes, may have gotten that issue mixed up  w/ relief on mortgage INTEREST rates. Either way, I tend to think there should not be much relief on.. houses only the filthy rich can buy..

  • As per usual, the scuм punish those of us who have more than 2 children (we have 6).  They eliminated the personal exemptions and so we're stuck with a standard deduction which will be about $15K less than we would have gotten through the personal exemptions.  Sure, they raise the child tax credit a little, but overall it's a wash.  This shows the diabolical Satanic contempt for larger families again ... across all parties.  Those DINCs living in apartments make out like bandits with this, but those of us with larger families and a mortgage to pay end up getting the shaft.  Meanwhile, the wealthy get nice 15% rate reductions.

I didn't know they eliminated the personal exemptions!
I guess you mean where you can write off each child?
I am cynical enough, however, to realize that the system is set up to benefit... those who do not need a benefit, the wealthy

  • The mortgage interest rate has always struck me as a phantom benefit.  Usually, it's in the $800-$1400 range unless you live and are paying a mortgage on a home in excess of $450K.

I've always wondered about the logic in someone not paying off their mortgage early because they would lose a $800 one time per year deduction when they are paying anywhere from $350 - $950 or more per month for their house payment.

I mentioned this to a man once and the guy just kept saying "You don't want to do that."  I asked "Why not?"  He replied "you just don't."  The man I was talking to didn't work in the finance industry so he didn't directly benefit but it was more along the lines of parroting what he had heard somewhere else without really thinking it through.

  • Stop acting like the Republicans are any different. We live in an oligarchy. The ultra-rich guy who lives in a $25 million house and lives off the Rockefeller's fortune can basically live tax-free while the middle class takes a hit. They're all bought and paid for.

But Faux News says Republicans are different.  Be a good goy and don’t question the 2-Party Scheme nor the Faux/CNN/MSNBC paradigm.  Surely there’s a place for all good goys.

unless you give specific details, there is no way we can just accept what u say..
I don't know as much as an accountant or whomever about taxes but I do know that generally speaking the rich are the ones who are taxed. Approximately half the population doesn't pay ANY taxes
that needs to stop. If you don't pay taxes, you really dont have much of a say in how they are spent and etc...

  • about half the population doesn't pay ANY taxes. This was one of Obama's doings.. but there were plenty (40%?) who didn't pay taxes b4 he came to office

I think all those who receive a check, including Congresspersons, from Govt.. should automatically get a 1% decrease and we can call that a tax. So even people on Disability would get this cut but it would not be much. No one would die of starvation w/ this kind of 1% cut and we would probably pay off the Debt.

then there needs to be balanced budget and ways to insure that WE NEVER GET a HUGE DEBT LIKE THIS again

    I mean Get outa here!

Non-government folks have to balance their household budget... Why is the Govt exempt from such logical and reasonable and NEEDED restraints???

    makes NO sense

    something odd going on...
