In the 1960s and 1970s, secretaries and administrative assistants had to lie for their bosses in order to keep their jobs.
It probably still happens today.
Lie: Mr. Smith, thanks for calling to confirm your appointment.
Mr. Adams is in a conference and cannot come to the phone at this time.
Could I reschedule an appointment for you to meet with him at another time?
Would Monday or would Tuesday be better?
Truth: Mr. Adams is in the office, but he does not want to speak with you now or in the future.
From the 1970 through the 2019s, journalists and reporters have been paid to lie.
If they do not promote the CIA line, they are fired.
