had the Church listened to Savonarola more, a devout Catholic up to his death, really a hit put on him by Alexander VI=we may have headed off Luther or lessened, greatly, teh "reformation"....proof he was mentally ill (and hence a "lunatic")? Proof anyone?????

Whatever his faults, he was a true reformer, not a deformer like Luther,etc..

Savanarola was a self-admitted heretic-- he saved himself from the flames by admitting so. He was put on trial in Florence and it had nothing to do with a 'hit' put on him by the Pope.
