Martyred for Defending the Poor

Well, what better place to die?

Blessed Archbishop Oscar Romero was murdered while celebrating Mass because he defended the cause of the poor in Latin America [can't recall which country therein]. From his installation until his death he spoke during his Sunday homilies of the injustices and cruelty that the underprivileged class was undergoing.

He said

“Wherever there is someone who has been baptized, that is where the Church is... Let us not hide the talent that God gave us on the day of our baptism and let us truly live the beauty and responsibility of being a prophetic people”

[I hear the definition of Prophet is:  “One who speaks for God.”]
