About the treatment of the Church, they say that some priests were treated badly and even killed, but one thing I learned in my limited experience with historical revisionism was that during the time of World War II many Catholics from countries such as Spain and Ireland and even France, enlisted into the German army with Catholic priests as chaplains and they saw the fight against the Russian Communists as a sort of holy Crusade against the manifestation of evil that was Communism.
