If masks work to prevent COVID-19, then HOW COME we're having a second wave/resurgence in recent weeks?
Texas never ended its mandatory masking order. People have been masked up since July 1st, 2020, and yet -- the curve of cases seems to have a mind of its own, surging and retreating with the weather or natural seasons, completely ignoring the masks. Hmmm...
Before you suggest that people aren't ACTUALLY WEARING masks, let me correct you -- I'm almost always the only guy in the store without a mask. I'd estimate 99 - 99.5% adoption rate.
Everyone has been socially distancing, clarinet players in orchestras have to use special bags over their instruments, singers have to wear special duck-bill masks, you have to wear a mask as you walk to your table in a restaurant, limited capacity in most businesses, hand sanitizing stations EVERYWHERE, etc. -- and yet the Curve of cases has a mind of its own. Completely independent of mask wearing.
It's almost as if the masks don't do jack ****!
.
I agree this is very frustrating that people can't see a huge fact staring them right in the face. We have been doing all this stupid stuff for months now, hand washing, etc., and things keep getting worse. No one asks, "Why is the social distancing not working?" Instead they say, "Look how well the social distancing is working! It would be so much worse if we didn't practice social distancing!" By that logic, you could substitute "social distancing" in that statement with "lucky rabbit's foot", "rain dance", "crystal talisman", or literally anything else you want.
