  • Remember the Obama years where he was idolized? We thought that this was blasphemous.

Now the same thing is happening with Beto.  Read the entire article at https://theweek.com/articles/832532/dont-idolize-2020-pick

    Quote

Former Texas Rep. Beto O'Rourke officially launched his candidacy for the Democratic nomination by declaring to Vanity Fair he is "just born to be in it." And his supporters seem to have picked up on the "chosen one" undertones already, with a sign at a Saturday night rally in Austin glorying, "BETO IS OUR CHRIST."

    Lord have mercy.

  • Beto O'Rourke is only idolized so much because he nearly beat Ted Cruz. As in, came within two percent. The implications of a blue Texas are massive, but he's still a bad politician.

Yeah, that was a bizarre race.

An Irishman pretending to be Mexican almost beats a Cuban pretending to be Anglo. To be fair, he plays the part well. Being of Irish heritage, he has a high talent for languages. He speaks Spanish like a native. Reminds me of another Irish-American who spent several years in a French Dominican convent and now he speaks his native English with a heavy French accent! Leave it to the Irish to be so good at acquiring a language, they lose the accent they spoke with for the first 20 years of their life!

Robert Francis O'Rourke (as Irish as it gets) calls himself "Beto" to appeal to his Mexican constituents -- which has actually been the key to his political success in El Paso so far.
Rafael Cruz goes by "Ted" to seem more Anglo. His mom is 100% European (3/4 Irish, 1/4 Italian) and his father is 100% Cuban.

    Truth is stranger than fiction!

If only the Irish propensity for language for easy language acquisition applied to our own native one.
