It doesn't seem to do any good to write to congress or anything else.. Maybe I am just discouraged...
but the corruption and the govt waste just go on and on and there is no end in sight and I am just fed up

This is what happens in democracy. It devolves and devolves, and the oligarchy gains more and more power.

We had a republic...
"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
They no longer recite this. There have been no flags in the classroom for decades.
I gave up on politics in the spring of 2012, when the candidate of my choice quit before the primaries, again, coward. I wrote his name in anyway. Turned off the tv and radio. Moved out of state and have not registered yet, maybe I will as an independent.
Americans are under the impression that we are the land of the free and the brave. We have lost our freedoms. They took them away, if you want them back, you better have deep pockets. Learned the hard way.
I just hope trump doesn't wimp out cleaning out the putrid swamp.

as long as humans are sinners, they will be corrupt and selfish
so we need to work on getting people to rise above their "human" ness.. In other words, we should be trying to convert them to true Catholicism... good luck with that, considering the Catholic Church isn't even Catholic...

But I don't think good people should totally give up on the swamp
because if we do, it will only get swampier... which it probably will anyway but... hmmm...
Good people have to be willing to sacrifice for the good of their country.. in other words must be willing to deal with very unpleasant people and policies... when we would rather just go to bed and pull the covers over us...
