I'm just as much against cannibalism as the next guy, and I wouldn't want to see the planet de-carbonized, but obtaining protein from insects is not intrinsically evil.  Western civilization (what's left of it, anyway) has a soft taboo against it, but there is nothing problematical about entomophagy.  I've heard some of them don't taste bad at all.   And I seriously doubt they are bad for one's cholesterol or sugar.  John the Baptist ate locusts (the only kosher insect, by the way).

My big problem with eating insects is that you are also eating their feces.  This can also be a problem with shrimp that haven't been deveined properly.  I became very ill one time after eating shrimp that had been caught fresh from the inlet beside our friends' home.
