I said a while ago that Electric Vehicles' are going to take off in a big way, not only in Europe, but all over the world - and I think it's happening now, and it won't be stopped during this next decade. And it's a good thing, because it will mean wars for oil come to an end.

A couple of articles on plans for EV in India over the next decade. From: https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/auto/auto-news/evi-technologies-joins-hands-with-bsnl-for-ev-charging-infrastructure/articleshow/73122698.cms

"New Delhi: Electric vehicle charging infrastructure provider EVI Technologies (EVIT) on Monday said it has inked a pact with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) for setting up battery swapping and charging stations.

As part of the 10-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) inked between the two entities, EVIT would install charging infrastructure at 5,000 locations of BSNL across the country, covering major cities.

Under the agreement, EVIT will make the entire upfront investment on services pertaining to the MoU, along with the operation and maintenance of battery swapping infrastructure, the company said in a statement.

The state-owned telecom operator on the other hand would be responsible for providing the requisite space and power connections for installing the battery swapping infrastructure, it added.

"Our to-be-developed infrastructure at BSNL will reduce the range anxiety among electric vehicle (EV) consumers and accelerate the adoption of such vehicles across India," EVI Technologies CEO Rupesh Kumar said.

BSNL Maharashtra CGM Manoj Kumar Mishra said the initiative will help promote clean energy and reduce carbon emissions.

The first set of charging stations under the initiative are planned to open next month in Maharastra and Haryana."

"India could achieve high penetration of electric vehicles (EV) by 2030 on the back of success of FAME II and other measures, according to a Niti Aayog report. The penetration of EV vehicles could reach around 80 per cent in case of two-wheelers and 30 per cent for private cars, the report -- India's Electric Mobility Transformation: Progress to Date and Future Opportunities -- by the Niti Aayog and the Rocky Mountain Institute

The report quantifies direct oil and carbon savings that vehicles incentivised under the FAME II would deliver.

"According to the analysis, if FAME II and other measures - in public and private space - are successful, India could realise EV sales penetration of 30 per cent of private cars, 70 per cent of commercial cars, 40 per cent of buses and 80 per cent of two and three-wheelers by 2030," the report said."
