  • Puerto Rico..was devastated while [Trump] vacationis in his own luxury hotels.
So, what are you doing to solve the problem?  Or are you just complaining and living comfortably in your own home.
    Your comments smack of envy.

  • Poche, you refuse to see the truth. Trump's optics were far too good after Harvey and Irma for the Antifa- deep state crowd to tolerate. The Marxists HAVE to turn Puerto Rico into something bad against Trump and are willing to sacrifice the PR people to do it. There are complete supplies for 6 months waiting to be unloaded in the San Juan docks and the mayor and teamsters openly refuse to distribute them according to the Army Corps of Engineers.. Just do a cursory search and you will find this out. Once you have the communist boot on your face, (almost there!) you will be wishing for the likes of Trump. He will be going to Puerto Rico this week and i hope he exposes this duplicity by these Alinskyites. I think the people of PR know the truth already.
Why do you have a problem with Trump being rich? Did you have the same problem with Obama or Clinton? They did nothing but have people killed. ( but they had good press!)
PS- La Raza is a extremist, supremacist and possible terror group- not a social club. Why should American judges have radical allegiances to other countries with the intent to do harm? Trump did NOT care about the parentage- he did care that a biased radical LaRaza judge did not recuse himself as he should have for the Trump University case when the whole world knew Trump's position on illegal immigration. Don't you think these things are set up against him??

  • At least Reagan would've done something if a part of his own country were underwater without food, power or water for up to six months. Instead, Trump is out golfing and made the crisis about himself. Reagan was an American hero, Trump is a charlatan buffoon. It's a miracle Marxists haven't stormed the White House and taken over yet.
I haven't heard anything about him ignoring the storm victims.
maybe you get your news from MSNBC

  • Donald Trump has demonstrated a definate hatred against the Hispanic people. For example during his presidential campaign he very clearly said that a judges parentage should disqualify him from the judiciary. Now, while Puerto Rico is in crisis, he ignores t he situation and belittles those who are asking for help.
    oh please
he said the judge was disqualified b/c he would side w/ the illegals, or likely do so

  • Is that a fact?
Check out the Mexico city plan Trump rescinded. Do you know how many Mexican babies have been saved thanks to the defunding from the US to Mexico for abortions. Sure, they still kill babies, but way less than when the abortions were practically free in Mexico city.
    And yet, Trump "hates" Hispanics.....
    Another note:
Deportations under the Obama administration fell short of 3 million.
Now, between February 1st, 2017 and September 30th 2017, there have been 84000 deportations.
But the Novus ordites (laity and false clerics included) along with their liberal friends accuse Trump of being a xenophobe. A racist. A potential murderer of Hispanic people. But Obama.. They dare not say anything against the Obamessiah.

Folks like you Poche, are divisive and have a liberal anti-Caholic agenda.
I honestly do not know why the forum owner has allowed you to spew your venom this long.
I think people should be allowed to spew away
    we can always ignore them
people follow Francis despite the fact he is a certifiable heretic. What do we expect from those who really do not (seem) to care about heresy in the Church.. Frankly, it looks to me like the Catholic Church as we know it is GONEsville
there is something in Apocalypse that says something about the City of God (? not sure that is the actual words) but the Church will be defeated for 3 1/2 years?
I'm not big on End Times stuff but it looks to me like that is happening

That is the problem. The judge was not disqualified. Instead of having his lawyers have the judge recuse himself, Trump gave an interview in which he stated that the judges ethnicity disqualifies him. He did not say "He made unfair rulings against me because of his political affiliations." He said, "This judge is incompetent because of who his parents were and where they came from."

Don't you think these things are set up against him??
The Jones Act waiver for Puerto Rico expired Sunday night, and “it is not being extended at this time,” Department of Homeland Security spokesman David Lapan told HuffPost on Monday.
DHS had temporarily waived the Jones Act ― an arguably outdated law that imposes exorbitant shipping costs on the U.S. island ― on Sept. 28. The waiver has meant that Puerto Rico has been able to import food, fuel and supplies more quickly, and for half the cost, in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.
With the 1920 law back in effect, the island will go back to paying much higher shipping costs to import supplies. The Jones Act requires that all goods shipped between U.S. ports be carried by U.S.-owned and operated ships, which are more expensive vessels than others in the global marketplace. That’s meant that Puerto Rico pays double the costs for goods from the U.S. mainland compared with neighboring islands ― and that U.S. vessels are making bank.
The return to higher shipping costs won’t help Puerto Rico as it tries to climb out of economic devastation. Nearly half of the 3.4 million Americans on the island still don’t have drinking water since Maria hit nearly three weeks ago. Just 15 percent have electricity. Many people still haven’t heard from loved ones, and at least 39 deaths have been attributed to the storm.
Despite the DHS position, Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rossello said Monday night that he wants another extension of the Jones Act waiver.
“I think we should have it,” Rossello told CBS News’ David Begnaud. “In this emergency phase, while we’re looking to sustain and save lives, we should have all of the assets at hand.”Lapan said DHS is “always prepared to review requests on a case-by-case basis and respond quickly” to possible waivers of the Jones Act. But those decisions have to be related to national defense, he said, and are not driven by cost-related matters.
“We believe that extending the waiver is unnecessary to support the humanitarian relief efforts” on Puerto Rico, Lapan said. “There is an ample supply of Jones Act-qualified vessels to ensure that cargo is able to reach” the island.
President Donald Trump, who is spending Monday golfing, had originally hedged on waiving the Jones Act for Puerto Rico at all, saying “a lot of shippers” didn’t want him to do it. He eventually caved to pressure from lawmakers including Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).
McCain has been pushing to get rid of the Jones Act altogether. It costs Puerto Rico hundreds of millions of dollars every year, and he recently introduced legislation to nix the law.
“Now that the temporary Jones Act waiver for Puerto Rico has expired, it is more important than ever for Congress to pass my bill to permanently exempt Puerto Rico from this archaic and burdensome law,” McCain said in a statement to HuffPost. “Until we provide Puerto Rico with long-term relief, the Jones Act will continue to hinder much-needed efforts to help the people of Puerto Rico recover and rebuild from Hurricane Maria.”

Ignore them in the aftermath of the hurricane and make them pay extra for shipping compared to what is shipped to the mainland. Also let it be known that their parentage disqualifies them for positions of responsibility (like the judiciary)

  • Amazing that you can put CBS, John McCain and the Huffington Post in the same comment and still expect a serious response- such drivel.
Trump was and is doing great in Puerto Rico, and he DID waive the Jones Act. Has anyone ever done that before? You seem angry even for the things he has done.
Most important, outside of these weather events, Trump has been the President who has had the most respect for unborn children and upholding rights of those defending their religious conscience i.e. not paying for abortifacients and contraception. Yea!
No it's not the Social Kingship of Christ, but President Trump has deference for OUR faith, even if some of us don't. In this world where the devil is exponentially tipping the scales in his favor, I appreciate President Trump's courage for our sakes ( and souls), even with the entire world raging against him. He ain't perfect but he's got guts and good instincts.

Actually he allowed the waiver to expire so that now those poor people will have to pay extra in comparison to their compatriots on the mainland.

  • it's actually the Department of Defense that has the authority to implement the waiver. Not Trump.

DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY Waiver of Compliance with Navigation Laws Hurricane Harvey striking the U.S. Gulf Coast has resulted in severe disruptions in both the midstream and downstream sectors of the oil supply system. Some refineries and pipeline networks are shut-in or running at reduced rates. In addition, conditions exist for a potential imminent shortage of energy supply in areas predicted to be affected by Hurricane Irma. In light of the impact on the affected region's energy needs, the Department of Energy (DOE) has recommended that the Department of Homeland Security waive the requirements of the Jones Act in the interest of national defense to facilitate the transportation of the necessary volume of petroleum products for a 7-day period. Furthermore, the Department of Defense (DoD) has requested a 7-day waiver of the Jones Act in the interest of national defense, commencing immediately. The Jones Act, 46 United States Code (U.S.C.) 55102, states "a vessel may not provide any part of the transportation of merchandise by water, or by land and water, between points in the United States to which the coastwise laws apply, either directly or via a foreign port" unless the vessel was built in and docuмented under the laws of the United States and is wholly owned by persons who are citizens of the United States. Such a vessel, after obtaining a coastwise endorsement from the U.S. Coast Guard, is "coastwise-qualified." The coastwise laws generally apply to points in the territorial sea, which is defined as the belt, three nautical miles wide, seaward of the territorial sea baseline, and to points located in internal waters, landward of the territorial sea baseline. The navigation laws, including the coastwise laws, can be waived under the authority provided by 46 U.S.C. 501. The statute provides in relevant part, "On request of the Secretary of Defense, the head of an agency responsible for the administration of the navigation or vesselinspection laws shall waive compliance with those laws to the extent the Secretary considers necessary in the interest of national defense." 46 U.S.C. 501(a) For the reasons stated above, and in light of the request from the Department of Defense and the concurrence of the Department of Energy, I am exercising my authority to waive the Jones Act for a 7-day period, commencing immediately, to facilitate movement of refined petroleum products, including gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel - to be shipped from New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Louisiana to South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Puerto Rico. This waiver applies to covered merchandise laded on board a vessel within the 7 day period of the waiver. &oi-e Acting Secretary September 8, 2017 ACQUIStTION. TECHNOt..OGY, ANO LOGISTICS THE UNDER SECRETARY OF DEFENSE 3010 DEFENSE PENTAGON WASHINGTON. DC 20301.:3010 Ms. Lisa L. Burley Chief/Supervisory Attorney-Advisor Cargo Security. Carriers and Restricted Merchandise Branch Office of Trade. Regulations and Rulings U.S. Customs and Border Protection 90 K Street. N.E. 10th Floor Washington. D.C. 20229 Dear Ms. Burley: SEP O 8 2017 This supersedes my letter dated September 7. 2017. Based upon the authority delegated to me by the Secretary of Defense in Department of Defense Directive 5134.0 I. I consider it necessary in the interest of national defense to waive the Jones Act (46 C .S.C. 55102) for a period of 7-days. commencing immediately. for relined petroleum products. including gasoline. diesel. and jet fuel. to be shipped from Ne\\ York. Pennsylvania. Texas. and Louisiana to South Carolina. Georgia. Florida, and Puerto Rico. This waiver may be extended if I consider it to be necessary in the interest of national defense. The Department makes this request pursuant to 46 lJ.S.C. SOl(a). Sinccrclv. {J~rrlwci2 Ellen M. Lord Department of Energy Washington, DC 20585 Ms. Lisa L. Burley Chief/Supervisory Attorney-Advisor September 6, 2017 Cargo Security, Carriers and Restricted Merchandise Branch Office of Trade, Regulations and Rulings U.S. Customs and Border Protection 799 Ninth Street, NW, 5th Floor Washington, DC 20229 Dear Ms. Burley: Thank you for your September 2 letter requesting the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) review of the request from SeaRiver Maritime Inc. (SeaRiver) for the use of foreign flag vessels to help alleviate disruptions to the transportation of petroleum products to the affected areas as well as other regions supplied by Texas. After discussions with the Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection, the Department of Defense, and the Maritime Administration, DOE has amended its recommendation. As noted, there have been severe disruptions in both the midstream and downstream sectors of the oil supply system as a result of Hurricane Harvey. Some refineries and product pipeline networks are shut-in or running at reduced rates. These refineries and pipeline networks are critical to the · production and distribution of refined products such as gasoline, diesel, and jet fuels for the east coast. As a result, DOE determines that conditions exist for a potential imminent shortage in the areas that are currently predicted to be affected by Hurricane Irma, namely Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. DOE believes the waiver is in the interest of national defense, and :supports critical infrastructure because the waiver mitigates future refined product supply risks in the impacted regions. DOE would suppo11 an industry-wide 7-day waiver of the Jones Act for refined products-specifically gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel-to be shipped from New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Louisiana to South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. After 7 days, the Department will review the merits of an extension. DOE expresses no view on the availability of qualified U.S.-flag vessels, which will be determined by the U.S. Maritime Administration. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. I can be reached at (202) 586-141 J. Sincerely, ~ a µ~ Patricia A. PUERTO RICO RESCUE UPDATE:
The news media is presenting the impression that Trump isn't doing much about the crisis in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
So here's a summary (compiled mostly from FEMA's daily updates) of what the Trump Administration has done so far since Maria hit Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands on September 20.
    By September 23 . . .
** Six commercial barges were delivering meals, water, generators, cots, and other commodities to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
** Three flights per day were arriving, each carrying approximately 33,000 meals.
** The logistics support ship SS Wright arrived carrying more than 1.1 million meals, and nearly one million liters of freshwater.
** Two shipping barges with 1.2 million liters of water, 31 generators, and more than 6,000 cots have arrived in St. Thomas.
** Two additional shipping barges loaded with food, water, and emergency relief supplies are en route to the Caribbean Sea from Florida.
** Millions of additional meals were and are being flown to Puerto Rico from staging areas in Kentucky and Florida.
** DLA transported 124,000 gallons of diesel fuel to Puerto Rico.
By September 27, the Trump Administration, working with officials in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands . . .
** Opened points of distribution (POD) in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands for survivors to get meals, water, and other commodities.
** FEMA, working in coordination with federal partners, provided millions of meals and millions of liters of water to Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands. Additional meals and water continue to arrive at the islands daily.
** FEMA’s National Business Emergency Operations Center (NBEOC) is facilitating private sector requests for humanitarian relief.
** The NBEOC continues coordination between government and private sector organizations as the community responds to Hurricanes Maria.
** Mobile Emergency Response Support (MERS) communications assets and personnel continue to support the FEMA Incident Management Assistance Teams (IMAT), Urban Search and Rescue (US&R), National Disaster Medical System (NDMS), and other federal teams in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
    As of September 27, 2017 . . .
** A U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) mobile communications team is in Puerto Rico to help improve communications across the storm-impacted area.
** FEMA search and rescue teams have visited all 78 municipalities of Puerto Rico, conducting search and rescue operations and helping to assess hospitals.
** FEMA US&R task forces saved or assisted 843 individuals and five pets, while searching over 2,600 structures as of September 27.
** The U.S. Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority drinking water system is back online, and other drinking water systems on the islands are top priority for receiving generators.
** The Concordia potable water pump station is online in St. Croix.
** The U.S. Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority Waste Management, and USACE are addressing potential public health risks of garbage build up; coordinating route clearance of wires and poles to enable garbage haulers to access the St. Thomas landfill.
** The National Guard Bureau (NGB) has thousands of Guard members on the ground in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands taking part in security and support operations. The Air National Guard is focused on transporting food, water, and communications capabilities as well as rapidly increasing airlift into affected areas.
** More than 180 Federal Law Enforcement Officers (FLEO) are in San Juan and the U.S. Virgin Islands supporting search and rescue, medical teams, and other federal responders, additional FLEOs are en route expected to arrive this week. Additional law enforcement support from New York State Police is on the ground in St. John.
** The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has supported the restoration of services to all 8 commercial airports in Puerto Rico.
** The FAA has restored full Air Traffic Control (ATC) services to Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in San Juan and limited ATC services to Rafael Hernandez Airport in Aguadilla. Recovery efforts are now supporting more than a dozen commercial passenger flights per day at Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
** 26 chainsaw teams and one Incident Management Team (IMT) (23 individuals) from the Department of Agriculture United States Forest Service arrived in Puerto Rico Wednesday to conduct emergency road clearance and manage logistics.
** The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) debris experts are assisting FEMA with debris management strategies in Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands. One of the first priorities is emergency route clearance in multiple locations to enable access to remote locations.
** USACE also completed a Blue Roof install on Cyril E. King Airport on St. Thomas, and completed its first residential Blue Roof install on September 23. Assessments for St. Croix are ongoing. A customer service center for Blue Roof installations opened over the weekend for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
** To bolster the delivery of fuel throughout Puerto Rico, 100 delivery trucks were dispatched by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) carrying an estimated 275,000 gallons of diesel fuel.
** Power is restored to Centro Médico Hospital in San Juan and San Pablo Hospital in Bayamón, Puerto Rico.
**The Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital in St. Croix and the Schneider Regional Medical Center in St. Thomas are established as mobile hospitals.
** More than half of dialysis centers in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands are open and accessible for patients. More critical care facilities will re-open in the coming days as power and access are restored.
** The U.S. Coast Guard reports the following port statuses with additional ports opening as assessments continue:
    Puerto Rico:
Open: Port of San Juan, Guayanilla, Salinas, and Talboa
Open with restrictions: Arecibo, Fajardo, Culebra, Guayama, Mayaguez, and Vieques
    U.S. Virgin Islands:
    Open:
St. Thomas: Charlotte Amalie, East Gregerie Channel, Crown Bay, West Gregerie Channel
St. Croix: Krause Lagoon, Frederiksted, Limetree Bay
    Open with Restrictions:
    St. Thomas: Redhook Bay
    St. John: Cruz Bay
** USACE coordinated transportation of more than 300 FEMA or Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) generators from across the U.S. to meet anticipated requirements in the islands. More generators continue to arrive.
The above info is compiled mostly from the FEMA website, which provides a daily update on what's happening.
And this from my military expert friend J Michael Waller who is tracking this closely. I'll just copy and paste here what he reports:
US Navy/Marine Corps Assets currently on station, or enroute to the Caribbean AOR:
26th Marine Expeditionary Unit with Battalion Landing Team 2/6
Carrier USS Abraham Lincoln Battle Group
    Amphibious Assault Ship USS Wasp
Amphibious Assault Ship USS Iwo Jima
    Amphibious Assault Ship USS Kearsarge
Amphibious Transport Dock USS New York
Amphibious Landing Ship USS Oak Hill
    Hospital Ship USNS Comfort
Aviation Logistics Support Ship USNS Wright
Dry Cargo Ship USNS William McLean
The above are enough assets to land an entire USMC Marine Expeditionary Brigade, with combat logistics elements. For those who don't know what that is, that's several thousand Marines, with all their gear.
All of the above, with the exception of the hospital ship, are capable of independent air operations.
Note: MEDEVACs are ALREADY being done, and began IMMEDIATELY by the US Coast Guard, and US Navy aviation.
Carrier USS Abraham Lincoln is producing purified potable water, at the rate of 400,000 gallons a day. Full capacity.
The carrier, all 3 assault ships, the LSD, and LPD, all have operating rooms to stabilize critical medical/trauma cases, prior to evacuation to either the hospital ship, or land based medical treatment facilities.
The hospital ship is capable of handling a patient load of up to 1,000 patients, with full OR, ICU, and Recovery wards.
In addition, fleet refueling ships are also enroute to provide fuel specifically for public safety equipment on the ground.
Obviously, the human catastrophe in Puerto Rico continues to be dire. Pray for Puerto Rico. And much work still needs to be done.
But it's just inaccurate (intentionally inaccurate) to suggest that Trump has not taken every conceivable action to help the 3.4 million people of Puerto Rico.

in addition to this there are in excess of 10,000 giant shipping containers filled with emergency supplies and the mayor refuses to work with the trucking Union to get distributed throughout the Island
What else should he be doing?
"Let us thank God for having called us to His holy faith. It is a great gift, and the number of those who thank God for it is small."

  • Jesus said, "The gates of Hell shall not prevail." and right before his ascension into Heaven, "Lo, I will be with you even until the end of time."
We must trust in Jesus and His Word.
yes, but he is with us even if we cannot be in the Real Presence (the Church). i hate to sound like a protestant but I have found it true that just saying His Name makes us close to Him
of course I have been Catholic for many yrs, as in practicing and etc.. I am not sure others would feel quite as close by saying his name but his name is powerful so....
anyway, I do think Jesus is withdrawing His Real Presence from SOME Catholic Churches. I feel the RP much stronger in some Churches .. not so much in others

    RR wasn't right on everything
and in his day there wasn't the ISIS threat and etc... but even w/o that threat
I am 100% behind Trump and anyone else trying to secure our borders. It is insane to let just anyone in
