Here in USA, people had guns for protection against wild animals in the wilderness.  Everyday, we hear stories of mountain lions attack joggers or bears attacking park volunteers, etc.  and recently coyote attacks on humans.  There should be more care on human life over animals.
Stupid.  If you are going into a dangerous wilderness, you need a gun. 

When did they remove guns from people in Australia?  I would think guns would be needed in case of croc attacks, big snakes etc.

Gun laws are control over honest people.  Bad guys always have access to guns. Most bad guys don’t register their weapons.   Also, buy back of guns are guns the thugs stole from citizens.

True. Wilderness areas are the places for crocs.

That having been said, most attacks occur through foolhardy acts, like swimming or camping near warning signs, and an inordinate number of them are tourists. There is an average of one death a year, compared to 3 a year from bee stings. Most big snakes in Australia are not poisonous. Best to leave them be.

Australia has never had a great emphasis on guns, except for farmers, graziers and the like. Guns were restricted after the Port Arthur massacres, planned and executed by and under the Howard government.
