That wasn't our job.  It had been a British territory.  If I'm understanding correctly, the island portion of HK was a British Crown Colony, but the New Territories --- the adjacent mainland area --- was only leased for 99 years.  The lease ran out, and HK wasn't viable without the New Territories.  The UK was neither willing nor able to go to war over it, which is how things probably would have ended up, if the UK had dug in and stayed on HK --- it would have been like Berlin writ large, with supply lines of thousands of miles instead of a hundred miles or so --- so the UK just gave the whole thing to China.  IOW, China pretty much had the UK over a barrel, and both sides knew it.  Around the same time, the Portuguese just threw in the jock when it came to Macau.

The British thought they would stay there forever, and the 99-year verbiage, as they saw it, was just a formality.  As anyone who understands property rights, leases, mortgages, and so on --- and I do, worked in the field for almost 30 years --- "verbal don't mean nothing".  Only what gets put in writing is enforceable, and be assured, someone will come along and interpret it strictly, if you fail to do so yourself.  My father learned a little about this, when he bought a vacant lot on prime resort property that was nestled between two existing houses, and built a house himself.  The two neighbors were indignant, in that "there had always just been an understanding" that no one would ever build on that lot.  The law didn't see it that way, he built the house, and there wasn't a thing the neighbors could do about it.  One came to accept the situation but the other one never did, and wasn't a good neighbor.  The neighbors were from a time and place where "having an understanding" was just the way things were done, especially when that "understanding" worked to the benefit of the people who held it.

And so it was with Hong Kong.  It wasn't the business of the US, and it wasn't up to us, to "free" them.  Taiwan is another critter, and Biden managed to cause some agita today when he said we would defend them.  That's something nobody wants to deal with.  Can anyone say SHTF?

Maybe we should begin freeing ourselves first.

She is just as controlled as Matt Walsh, who Ben Shapiro has allowed to be a slightly edgier version of him. Her thing is that because she is black (again, racial Marxism pattern matched to the political right) she can talk about race in a way that the other Jєωs and people at The Daily Wire and Prager U etc cannot (in accordance with the Kosher racial Marxist dialectic system). The strings are on her and you cannot take anything she says without considering these facts.
