The parents of the woman who is accusing Brett Kavanaugh of sɛҳuąƖ misconduct have a connection to the Supreme Court nominee through his mother, a Maryland state judge, online court records show.

Martha Kavanaugh granted a motion dismissing a 1996 foreclosure action against Ralph and Paula Blasey, according to the records.

Christine Blasey Ford publicly came forward Sunday to accuse Brett Kavanaugh of sɛҳuąƖ assault decades ago when they were both teenagers in prep school.

... This former classmate, Cristina King Miranda, in a Facebook post she later deleted, claimed on Tuesday that she knew Ford, Kavanaugh’s accuser, in school and that everyone knew about the alleged incident. (Miranda’s Twitter account has now been deleted.)

“Many of us heard about it in school and Christine’s recollection should be more than enough for us to truly, deeply know that the accusation is true,” she wrote. “The incident did happen.”

There was just one problem with this: Miranda’s recollection completely contradicted Ford. Over the weekend, Ford told the left-wing Washington Post she “told no one at the time what happened to her.” ...

President Trump on Thursday night told Fox News he thinks Brett Kavanaugh is "an outstanding person" who deserves a vote on his Supreme Court nomination, adding: "I don't think you can delay it any longer."

The remarks came during an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity ahead of a “Make America Great Again” rally in Las Vegas, where Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nev., is up for re-election.  . . .

But as senators spar over the terms for a new hearing which may or may not happen, inconsistencies in the story have emerged that could embolden Kavanaugh's defenders.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley has given Ford until Friday morning to say whether she will testify next week. Ford first aired her accusations in a Washington Post story over the weekend but has not spoken publicly about them since. Absent another statement or appearance, questions about the account have swirled on Capitol Hill....

The U.S. Marshals Service is reportedly investigating violent threats sent to the wife of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh after a 36-year-old sɛҳuąƖ misconduct allegation was leveled against the judge.

Citing an unnamed, high-ranking Trump official, the Wall Street Journal and CNN report at least four vulgar messages were sent to Ashely Kavanaugh’s work email address. In one instance, Mrs. Kavanaugh was sent an email which reads, “May you, your husband and your kids burn in hell.” Another message states “Hi, Ashley,” you should tell her husband to “put a bullet in his … skull.”  ...

A senior Democratic Senate aide told Politico that the GOP’s offer of a Wednesday hearing date is one of several “nonstarters with Democrats and Ford’s camp” because they “had made clear that [Ford] could not be in the capital to testify before Thursday.”

The Democratic aide accused the GOP of “making this disingenuous counter-offer knowing she won’t be here.”
“Ford does not want to fly from her California home to Washington,” a Republican senator told Politico, and therefore “she may need to drive across the country to make the hearing. Ford has reportedly told friends she is uncomfortable in confined spaces, indicating a physical difficulty in making the trip by plane.”

Update: The 5:00pm deadline for Ford and her lawyers to respond to the GOP’s counter-offer has now expire.(sic) No word yet on whether they have accepted.

Christine Blasey Ford, the California psychology professor who has emerged to accuse Judge Brett Kavanaugh of groping her in high school over 35 years ago, wants to move Monday’s scheduled hearing to Thursday instead, among other demands.

There is only one possible reason that Dr. Ford and her attorneys could want a Thursday hearing — not Wednesday, as the GOP has now counter-offered, or Monday as originally scheduled: a Thursday hearing could preclude Kavanaugh from joining the Court for its new session on Oct. 1. (Dr. Ford has until Friday to respond to the counter-offer.) ...

Theoretically, Kavanaugh could join the Court after Oct. 1. But once the Court began its fall session, the Democrats could argue that there is no rush to confirm him, that there should be more investigations, and that the president should let voters decide in November. That would turn the midterm elections into a referendum on the Court, and potentially create a huge political opportunity for Democrats — and a problem for McConnell and the GOP, who promised a confirmation on time. Republican moderates could start to waver, effectively defeating the nomination — and infuriating the conservative base.
