It's probably much more than that. I'm guessing some of the immigrants want to close the door behind them.
Good point, and one that wouldn't immediately come to mind. I can well foresee that there would be people, seeking to better themselves and their families, who want to come to a country such as France (or the UK, or the US, or what have you), seeking opportunities that don't exist where they are from, but they are
not part of some massive "hive mind" invasion force. Perhaps they want to live in a better place, and in some way at least, adapt to their new lives, rather than turning the host country into something as bad as what they left behind.
In a related vein, I thought it was kind of telling, that a recent poll showed that one out of every six
black families have begun homeschooling ever since the 'demic. One's first thought is
"they want to 'negro-form' the entire society, the schools, the whole shebang, to their own liking, and therefore, the public schools are precisely the way they want them to be". Not necessarily. I have to think that there are many blacks who, while remaining "culturally black" (something that has many shades of meaning), want to take on the ways of law-abiding, crime-free, and to use Joe Biden's words, "clean and articulate", achievement-oriented "white" society, and even though they wouldn't admit it, "improve themselves". More power to them, nothing would make me happier. It's pretty telling that even decent, law-abiding black people are relieved when the person approaching their car, or walking behind them in a dodgy situation, is
not a young black male. If the (non-black) reader can make this mental shift for a moment, stop and thing, if you were black, would you want your kids to grow up "ghetto", with that murky, unenunciated argot they speak, shifty body language in sensitive situations, and so on? Even in the Jim Crow days, everyone recognized a "talented tenth". And if that "talented tenth" makes some of the other 90 percent aspire to something better and higher than their existing situation, then so be it, works for me.
