This isn't the first coronavirus that has ever appeared in human history. You can't contain its spread because it's an RNA virus. By putting in measures you're only delaying everyone's chances to achieve immunity. This is why in Texas and Florida they can reopen faster as most people are naturally immune to the virus. Stricter measures and vaccines only increase the chances of making strains more lethal and virulent by natural selection. e.g. only the strains that last longer in the air survive & replicate because people are distancing.
