Health issues and other problems associated with cigarette smoking are attributable to multitudinous chemicals placed in tobacco by manufacturers. They are chemically designed to be "addictive". Consider growing your own tobacco - I do, all natural. It's not that difficult and you do not even need a large garden to do it. Grow in pots. Also, nicotine as such has plenty of benefits - insecticide, etc.
I've been in the presence of an older gentleman who would smoke his pipe using pure tobacco, and it was actually quite pleasant and relaxing, and did not bother me at all like cigarettes do. I believe nicotine is actually vitamin B3 (niacin), and is therefore a source of health benefits, such as supporting the nervous system.
