  • I have a small throw rug I accidentally spilled a whole container full of cinnamon on.

It's now quite brown -- I simply threw it in the wash, and thought that would take care of it -- not noticing it hadn't, it went in the dryer after.

Well, I've tried vinegar, baking soda, and peroxide so far, and it's still quite blotchily brown.

Any suggestions for trying to save it?
    Sincerely,

    Shin

  • Dishwasher detergent would be my last resort and bleach might rot the threads.  Or dye the rug to the color it wants to be? Ha!  Sorry.

  • I would suggest getting some type of enzyme based cleaner. They seem to work the best for stains from organic type material. The magic of enzyme type cleaners is that it actually breaks down the material, and from what it sounds like, that's probably what needs to happen to the cinnamon. Cinnamon is so fine so naturally it will get into every crevice and hold tight! A normal surface cleaner just won't due. You need a chemical breakdown. :)
