What should I do?

  • I cannot change Canon Law. So this means that I can receive gluten-free Communion only if I'm a Byzantine.
    Changing from Roman to Byzantine needs a papal indult which I cannot obtain and there is a chance of sinning by attending ceremonies not proper to one's rite (asides from the NO hippie heresy preached from their pulpits).
    I'm not keen on fractioning as it could rob time from my staying with Jesus.
    For many of us, Big Pharma and the Motu is not an option.
    So, what should I do?
    The things I'm contemplating are:
    - starting the GAPS protocol (very costly, needs constant supervision, one is still impeded until the weaning period);
    - taking an enzyme pill (less expensive that the GAPS protocol, but I need a formal dx before I start taking the pills, buying them may support the New Age);
    - joining the autistic pride movement and dumping the diet (costs $0, but there is a chance of it being gravely sinful).

  • Pelly, those of us who have checked with traditional priests with experience on this issue have conveyed all the information you need.  No offense, but you insist on relying on your own malformed deductions.

    1. Most importantly, what miniscule amount of gluten may be in a Particle of Holy Communion will not affect you because you don't have celiac disease.

      This is a heretical and ridiculous idea, that the bigger the Host, the longer He stays with you.  The size of the Host is immaterial.  Please review Church teachings on the Real Presence immediately.

    Talk to your traditional priest about receiving a Particle of Host. Then go to Mass and receive without worry.

    3.  Re: Gaps - you can follow a healthy gluten free diet without necessarily following Gaps diet. Your choice. It's easy and relatively inexpensive to have good health.

    4.  Re: special enzymes.

    ** You don't need special supplements to receive Holy Communion.
    If you have a particular circuмstance regarding fasting /abstinence, then your priest will advise you.

    ** If you want enzymes for overall health (a great idea), you can buy good quality at any vitamin center or online without a prescription.

    Please speak to your local traditional priest as soon as you can.  With respect, you are overly scrupulous and need spiritual counseling and direction from a priest.

  • Attendance at the Byzantine rite is not a sin. Assisting at mass in the Byzantine rite satisfies the Sunday obligation.
    If you have gluten intolerance the next question is; have you talked about this with the priest in the parish where you live? It is possible to recieve from the cup. I have seen this done at the TLM, however I believe that there was a prior arrangement.

  • @poche But you still attend the NO, right?
    Also, I don't think that there is a loophole to Can. 852.

    False.  You need not switch to Byzantine in order to receive Communion there.

    False.  You do not sin by attending Eastern Rites.  Papal permission is easily obtained to switch TO Eastern Rites; it's much tougher to switch OUT of them (because of the numbers disparity Rome doesn't want the Roman Rite to absorb the Eastern Rites).

    False.  Whether fractioned or not the Host dissolves in the stomach within minutes.  But most saints testify that the presence of Jesus remains much longer.

  • Pelly, when you ask "What should I do?" with no intention of taking notice of the wise answers kind people supply, one has to wonder what is the purpose of these repetitious threads. You've been doing it for 2 years now.

    How is your schooling going now? What are the prospects of your getting into medical school? How are you managing that long, long train journey to your nearest SSPX chapel?
    How old are you now? Is it 17 or 18?

    Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
    Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

  • @Nadir I think that these kind of questions should be asked in private.

    You have given similar information publicly on this board, in fact asking us how you are going to solve these problems of yours. I must say you seem more trollish than ever.
