Our bodies will be the food of worms in the end. Health is what matters, not physique. We look for health in order to do the will of God, nothing more.
Amen. I realize that none of it matters. I am determined to keep myself looking good, which includes maintaining my health, expanding my wardrobe and visiting an experienced hair stylist often. However I realize gaining mass by way of excess calories is the least important thing I can do. If, what, and when I don't want to eat, I don't want to eat. I can not lift an adult person over my body and also be "too skinny" at the same time. The English thoughts that linger inside the mind often have no place in reality. It is imperative we see this before we start our own downfall.

To actually answer your question.

It does not profit you to gain weight. This is vanity. Just as focusing on losing weight (when not over weight), is also vanity.

The Catholic mind is on healthiness, not looks. Looks only in so far as simple good order, but not to attract the admiration of others, especially those of the same sex. Now if there is some unintended weight gain as a result of eating meat for more energy to work hard, then so long as its not making you overweight then its fine. But don't set out to do it.

Striving to be virtuous involves constantly checking yourself for self deception, and how much you are allowing to be deceived by the ideas of the world.

In reaction to obesity, there is an over reaction now to emphasis looks. (Clavicular etc. etc. )

Don't fall for it. The most important thing of all is how beautiful your soul is at your death, which could be any moment.
You are better aware and more brilliant than most people give you credit for on here, Tom

If you feel fine, then I wouldn't worry about it. I only wanted to share some things that you may have been unaware of regarding plant foods, in case your weight has to do with lack of nutrients. As I said before, some people thrive on a mostly plant-based diet. I remember reading that you grow some of your own food, which is great.

B12 is present in the dirt on produce that is fresh from the garden. It gets washed off from the intense scrubbing that is involved in preparing produce for the grocery store. B12 is well known for it's impact on the nervous system, energy and endurance. Vitamin A is involved in hormone and immune function as well as eye health, Vitamin D is vital for immune function and mood, and iron is known mostly for the production of red blood cells, and transporting oxygen throughout the body.

Even though the Holy Scriptures were written to instruct our souls, it is interesting to see the kind of foods that Our Lord ate, and the foods He chose to miraculously multiply (loaves and fishes). We see Him consuming bread, for example. Whole grains, prepared properly, are a wonderful source of all the B vitamins.

Historians now can say with great probability, that the bread Our Lord ate was most likely einkorn bread, which is an ancient grain that people who have gluten intolerance, for instance, can tolerate very well. If it was in the form of loaves, it was most likely sourdough, which was a universal method of converting grains into bread, before commercial yeast was introduced. Real sourdough happens to have many health benefits. Our Lord and St. Paul in the Sacred Scriptures use sourdough as an analogy for demonstrating spiritual truths, perhaps suggesting how common this method of preparing bread was.

β€œAnd again he said: Whereunto shall I esteem the kingdom of God to be like? It is like to leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.” β€” Luke 13:20-21

"Your glorying is not good. Know you not that a little leaven corrupteth the whole lump?" β€” 1 Corinthians 5:6

We also see Jesus Christ consuming wild caught fish, and wild honey or honeycomb.
Lest think I've forgotten you, Maria. I am grateful for your words and resources. I am meditating on this today as I have with the other things you've said and will continue to. I ate the dirt from a potato this morning on accident, and was amazed at how great I feel. Also, I realized this morning I had never been doing stretches, I had three trapped nerves in my lower back and glutes I set free on my own. I feel much emotionally better as well as taller after doing this, I was unconscious before. I need to stop sitting in chairs, I am in no position to do so. Thank you in particular for your help on everything. That is all I have to say on this matter, I will continue to eat good food as much as I want, and while my very first plants of cabbage are growing in I'll partake in them as well. This website has been a time sink, pertaining to favorite topic no less. It is very addicting to write all I can and read all I want but I will be taking a step back to focus on greater things. I may pop in once or twice a day compared to the usual three or four. Being alone as a young man especially has been difficult but I am strong and wouldn't have it any other way. This is all for right now.
