People have been conditioned from grade school that if is on TV it has to be true. I heard that said in the 1950's.
Also, there is lots of money involved.
I think that Trump knows/knew that his enemies totally control the people through the mainstream media, therefore, he had to go along with the hoax and turn it against them. You can clearly see it in the Biden adds where they say that Trump did not act quick enough and was inept in handling it. Trump on the other hand did many things that he can show to disprove their narrative, like sending the hospital ship to New York, which NY never used, and closing travel to China and telling people that he was using
Hydroxychloroquine and not wearing a mask.The same with the riots, he offered to send the National Guard and other measures, but the governors refused. The media was setting him up with the riots as a racists and inept, and he turned it on them. He appears to be very wise, but, it's politics and politics takes years to reveal itself.
