  • What kind of antibiotics needed.
    Doxycycline or amoxicillin.

My family has a hereditary allergy to anything related to penicillin.  So, my mother always had us take doxycycline if we had Lyme's Disease.

A couple days after starting the antibiotic a probiotic should be taken regularly to restore good guy bacteria.

Hope you feel better soon!

  • My husband got two ticks attached to him a few weeks ago and it was scary since this was the first time for him while he was homesteading since 2020. I had to use my tweezers to carefully remove them and it was good we caught them right away. We live on unmaintained land with tons of ticks and have to mow the grass regularly, using permethrin on clothing, and sprinkling diatomaceous earth. Also putting socks over pant legs is helpful while wearing tall rubber boots. We put the ticks in the freezer in case but he hasn't had any symptoms. He did put Polysporin and rubbing alcohol on the areas as a preventative.

We wanted to have doxycycline on hand (apparently it's used for skin issues) and i looked into ordering it online. I live in Canada by the way and Lyme disease is no joke as well as the other diseases ticks can carry. We have some chickens but they're useless and will stare at a tick while i spray it down or remove it (we have a lot of bugs so that explains it). My husband got guinea fowls a few years ago but they ran away and are generally very noisy. Also, chrysanthemums and certain herbs could help repel them.

  • People can be allergic to doxycycline, and if you want to just keep some on hand, I think it turns toxic after a while. After using the antibiotic, or if none is available, it might help to eat 2 fresh cloves of garlic 3 times per day for 1-2 weeks (high doses beyond 2 weeks can start to damage or weaken the liver), and use lots of allspice (in tea, on oatmeal or cereal, however you can take it) because they supposedly are effective against lymes. Myrrh is too, but I don't know how to safely take enough to be effective since it is toxic to eat in any more than the smallest amounts.

  • Doxycycline, 500 mg.  3x day for 10-15 days.  This stuff is nasty on the tummy, but do take it as prescribed.  It will knock out an early case of Lyme as it hasn’t yet become resistant to the spirochete.  Don’t let it go because later on, the disease becomes chronic and very difficult to treat.  (Think, on IV antibiotics, arthritis, knee and hip replacements, neurological effects, mood swings, loss of cognition, etc.)  Yes, people HAVE died of it over many years.

  •  To remove ticks, get a cotton swab, soak it in original Listerine and put the swab on top of the tick. Hold the swab on top of the tick. It will back out as it tries to get away from the Listerine. I read this recently, used Listerine as mentioned, and it worked.

    Yes!  Good points!

I have a good friend who had Lyme's for 12 years before being diagnosed.  She had a terrible allergic reaction when given the antibiotic and ended up in the Emergency Room.

My mother keeps a large container of doxycycline in the freezer to keep it fresh longer.

I am very sensitive to antibiotics so I try to get through illnesses with natural remedies and naturally sourced antibiotic plants and foods.  I don't think that I have taken antibiotics since a bad episode of an infected ingrown toenail when I was 17.

    That’s a good one.

This has been worse year for them.

I remember being little and had ticks on us.  (We never had to worry about disease.)

  • I went to urgent care.  I was really nervous.   They had masks.    They gave a one time  200 g of antibiotics.

A couple of weeks ago , I had a couple of deer ticks on me but I ate garlic.  Then I heard that some people don’t get bulls eye and still get the disease. I’ll probably go to my main doctor because I don’t want long term disease.

I did buy unsweetened yogurt that’s made in Pa.

May God bless you and keep you

I thought you want the tick pulled out so it doesn't spit out the Lymes bacteria when it detaches on it's own. The risk can also be squeezing the spit out of a tick when trying to pull it out. Now that I think about it, burning down into the bite area after pulling the tick may be the best way to destroy any bacteria. Hydrogen peroxide or silver nitrate might be similarly effective. Kind of like people who think you should try to suck the venom out of a snake bite.

  • This is just anecdotal, but I have had Lyme and co-infections since the 90's. I was treated with IV antibiotics and still had neurological lyme symptoms. I managed  long Lyme with diet and supplements but still had many bad days.
Once COVID hit and I took Ivermectin for flu-like symptoms, my Lyme symptoms went away. Take it for what it's worth. Maybe the Lyme spirochete is a parasite

  • Thankyou Viva and amdgjmj for your compliments. I am not ignoring anyone, just don't have much time to spend on the computer.

St Giles, I read somewhere that the tick has to be on the person around two weeks in order to transmit the disease. Who knows?

Here is the link to books on herbal remedies that are practical and involve many common plants which are considered weeds. After getting this book, you won't consider them weeds anymore.

Just beware of the usual low standard of what is worn by some in the advertisements.
