the keto diet
« on: September 23, 2022, 10:28:52 AM »
My family has, for many years now, followed the nourishing traditions diet with a lean on the gaps diet, but recently i have had some symptoms of peripheral neuropathy, which has basically affected my right hand.

I do not do any conventional medicines. With Gods help I have always used diet and herbal/natural/homeopathic remedies.

Recently watching Dr. Berg and other research said that this condition can be cured with Keto diet and intermittent fasting.

was wondering if anyone has had any experience with Keto diet and maybe some recipes for large family that won't break the budget...especially with the crazy inflation that is being done on purpose for our demise.

I've done keto, I dropped like half a stone in a week . It makes you stop craving sugar and makes you less hungry. I felt energised and healthy . You can get keto flu which is you body reacting to not having sugar , but stick it out

I found it hard to stick to long term as I do like potatoes and sandwiches. I now try and stick to a low carb diet

It was good for me when I did it a few years ago.  Be sure to supplement your electrolytes so you don't get the Keto flu!

My mom does keto after being diagnosed with type-2 diabetes and it seems to be working out pretty well for her.

My experience with semi-Keto on a budget and cooking for my husband who is not Keto is this.

I say semi-keto because hard core Keto downplays or ignores veggies, which are most of what I eat. Some even grind up pork rinds to use as flour -- ick.

I prepare a meal with a protein like meat, poultry or fish cooked with seasoning and veggies. I prepare another veggie or two. I prepare either potatoes or rice which he loves and I do not eat. I may make him gravy which I also do not eat. No desserts for me except on Sunday when I bake something he likes.

Intermitent fasting is often used along with Keto, that is, eating in a window of 6 or 8 or so hours. i.e. Last meal at 6 p.m. First meal at 10 a.m. or noon. Lots of water.

Also nuts, seeds, healthy fats incorporated into salads.
