  • Might just be my inner Briton poking through again, but I was wondering if anybody else here enjoys the wonderful world of teas? I mean along with having a much more delicate flavour, and soothing aroma than coffee, it’s certainly much healthier. So if so what’s your favourite blend of leaves?

  • Canuk! Hello, great topic!

I must say, I love both coffee and tea. I have my cup-o-joe in the morning when I wake up. Then, at work, I'll have a cup or two of green tea. And, towards the end of the day, I'll have a different type of tea sometimes. My favorite, as I'd stated somewhere else, is jasmine pearl green tea. Besides its wonderful aroma and flavor, its so beautiful watching the leaves unfold from their pearls, especially if you  have a glass kettle (which I don't, as they're a bit pricey, but still beautiful from my tea cup).

Has anyone had experiences with white teas? I know they're the most delicate, but also becoming more and more popular.

  • Its also worth noting that tea is the most widely consumed drink in the world, after water. One source.

  • My favorite (my sampling being limited at the moment) would have to be St.Dalfour's "Darjeeling". But they can't fool me.... I KNOW THAT"S BLACK CEYLON BEING MIXED IN THERE AS A FILLER!  :dwarf:

Ah Darjeeling, my local tea shop imported some from the Margret's Hope plantation it’s great! I mean generally I prefer something with a slight hint of bergamot orange (Twining’s having the best Earl Grey!) or a floral touch (such as Jasmine) but this brew was exhilarating! I felt calm and relaxed, and have since come to agree with George Orwell on the vast superiority of Indian and Ceylon teas… but I can only dread the fate of those who would mix my Darjeeling with Ceylon!    :heretic:

Coffee has actually been found to contain very high antioxidant content: http://www.physorg.com/news6067.html

I love tea, myself. A nice cup of Masala Chai with sugar and milk is my top choice. A nice Chamomile on a cold winter evening is also enjoyable.

Most of the time my drink consumption is usually coffee or beer. I try to balance it out, though.

  • Welcome Roland!  :cowboy:

I'm glad you've posted on this thread and revived it. Just this weekend I purchased both Jasmine Yin Hao and Green Chai Delight. Both delicious!

*In conversations like this I easily start rattling off in a (sophisticated...eccentric?) British accent. *

I take it you know that "Darjeeling" is merely a reference to the famous province it's grown in and not the variety of tea (which is determined by it's estate plantation), yes?

  • I love tea.  At the risk of showing my unsophistication, I have to admit my favorite is Red Rose tea.  My parents were Canadian & I even have a box full of the little porcelain animals - the original kind!  What can I say?!

  • When I returned to my home, having been away for a year, I found a robust minty sort of plant which I eventually identified as Lemon Balm. It was climbing over other plants so I pruned it heavily and hung is up in an old pillowslip in a draughty shady spot till it dried out. I have harvested it twice this year. Even now in winter it is still looking good and could be harvested again soon.  It makes a lovely night time drink. Just copied this from a website:

For anyone who drinks lemon balm regularly, they will know the calming, relaxing and refreshing benefits. Students studying for exams have shared with me, how drinking the tea, has helped to clear the head, sharpen the memory, and calmed their butterflies before and during exams.
Add a drop of Port!

  • Sometimes I brew rosemary leaves with lemon. When I have a cold I brew eucalyptus leaves instead.

  • I love peppermint and before bed I drink chamomile. I will usually buy any flavor the Bent & Dent store sells!
