  • Swimming is essential for those with Arthritis. It strengthens the muscles, improves the flexibility, and reduces joint pain. Swimming is one exercise that is beneficial for arthritis patients since it is a low impact sport and you only need to swim for a short period of time to see the benefits. Here are a few benefits of swimming:

    • It's a pain-free exercise and you can do it at home. Inground pools are really popular in homes nowadays. They would be extra beneficial if you fill it up with warm water. You can call any inground pool builder to build one for you.
    • It helps loosen your muscles and improves stiffness.
    • It reduces pain by building your muscles via swimming. In this way, you are putting less stress on your joints. If you swim in a heated pool. It would help reduce pain and be an enjoyable experience for people with arthritis.
    • You can’t deny the fact that water has a relaxing quality about it. This relaxing quality will be enhanced further if you swim in a heated pool.

  • I hear turmeric is good for people with arthritis too. FWIW one source I read said it was as good as NSAIDs for pain relief.

  • Indeed it is! Taken in a glass of milk. I will post the recipe tomorrow after I get it from my husband.

I cured my own arthritis which occurred in my younger years between 40 and 50 by ceasing my tea drinking habit. Now at 71 I am free of arthritis. By tea I mean the Indian type of Camellia plant which is so popular with the British and more recently with Americans. I have never resumed drinking it and my arthritis has never returned. I previously drank tea after every meal and before bedtime.

I do drink espresso coffee for breakfast. Other than that I drink my home grown herbal teas. I believe that the tea plant has one of the largest concentrations of fluoride. http://fluoridealert.org/studies/tea02/

  • Here is the recipe:

First heat a cup milk; add into it half teaspoon of cinnamon, one teaspoon of turmeric, a shake of black pepper and a teaspoon of honey. Then mix everything together and drink it. Do this twice every day - once in the morning and again before bed time for at least one week.

    Particularly good for sciatica.

  • Essential herbs can cover a multitude of problems.

I use a mix of essential herbs on my dog that has fleas and ticks running for cover.

Olives are also very good for killing digestive yeasts and cultivating the good bacteria, without which one would die, because life comes from decay, the universal law since Adam took that bite.'

My doctor encouraged me to join the local YMCA and get involved in water activities because of my arthritis, and the fact that I really could afford to lose some weight.  I really enjoy the class I go to daily at 8:30am--it is called Strengthen Stretch and Tone (SST)--I enjoy the class because is designed to strengthen the body, tone muscle groups, challenge balance and build stability. It is in a heated pool. I totally agree it does help my joints.

  • However, It is difficult though to find decent swimsuits, without revealing too much

  • There have been threads on CathInfo on the topic of modest swimwear. Do a web search for the same or muslim swimwear. Or wear shorts and a top over your present style.

My wife drank this mixture-- it has a name of some sorts, "golden milk" I think?  She drank it for something else, though-- can't recall what exactly.  It worked though, whatever it was.

I noticed they also add ginger, which make it taste even better. I love ginger.
