  •   Strabism is truly a heavy cross to bear. It negatively affects your appearance and deprives you of 3D vision. After two surgeries on my eyes it is still here.
      Any solution?

I'm sorry dear.  I don't think so.  I've seen a woman who wears an eye-patch, perhaps in public you can wear sun glasses.

Vertical or horizontal?  How many degrees off?

  •  It is horizontal it's exotropia. I thought the doctor said it is less than 5 degrees now after two surgeries. But no matter how many degrees, you lose your stereo vision and it interferes with your daily life.
He also prescribed some exercises which I did and some small improvement happened.

  • I'm sorry to hear that, spouse. You will have my prayers.
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

Please don't think that I was minimizing the problem.  I'm sure that a constant lack of stereoscopic vision would be very disorienting.  But you also mentioned that it affected your appearance; horizontal exotropia of less than five degrees off the resting axis should hardly be noticeable except for prolonged eye contact.

  • I had two surgeries as an infant and then off and on patching throughout childhood, but my strabismus has never really bothered me. Perhaps I just don't know what I'm missing.

Our daughter has had two very similar surgeries to what I had. If you're not looking for problems, her appearance now is normal.
