  • Everything we eat is more than likely tainted with poison, from our water to the very air we breathe. I don’t even trust organic, how do I know it isn’t only an excuse to charge a ridiculous amount of money for ‘healthier’ food.

The St Joseph prayer is said to come with a protection against poison to those who say it daily. I do wonder why ‘poison’ is mentioned when it would seem to be a rare thing for someone to ingest poison..unless of course you were living in these days.

    St Joseph pray for Us!

  • This one? My mother used to say this every night. I can still hear the warmth and passion in her voice.

Catholic Prayer: St. Joseph Prayer for protection

    Description:
This prayer is a very old and beautiful invocation to St. Joseph. It is said to have been found in the fiftieth year of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In 1505 it was sent from the Pope to Emperor Charles when he was going into battle. St. Joseph was invoked for protection against a sudden death, drowning, poisoning; for protection against falling into the hands of the enemy, being burned in a fire or overpowered in battle. This prayer can be said for nine days as a novena prayer.

    Prayer:
O St. Joseph whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the Throne of God, I place in you all my interests and desires. O St. Joseph do assist me by your powerful intercession and obtain for me from your Divine Son all spiritual blessings through Jesus Christ, Our Lord; so that having engaged here below your Heavenly power I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of Fathers. O St. Joseph, I never weary contemplating you and Jesus asleep in your arms. I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart. Press Him in my name and kiss His fine Head for me, and ask Him to return the kiss when I draw my dying breath. St. Joseph, Patron of departing souls, pray for us. Amen
    .
O Blessed St. Joseph, faithful guardian and protector of virgins, to whom God entrusted Jesus and Mary, I implore you by the love which did bear them, to preserve me from every defilement of soul and body, that I may always serve them in holiness and purity of love. Amen
    .
O St. Joseph, foster father of Jesus Christ and true spouse of the Virgin Mary pray for us and for those who will die this day (or night).

Carissima, there is nothing new under the sun. And there's nothing new about poison, ever since the first sin. What about poisonous plants, animals insects, spiders. Wherever you look in nature you can find poisons. And what about medicines?
I did a search for 'poison" in the drbo and came up with 5 examples.
    .
" Their throat is an open sepulchre: with their tongues they acted deceitfully; the poison of asps is under their lips. [Psalms 13:3]
    .
"But in the end, it will bite like a snake, and will spread abroad poison like a basilisk." [Proverbs 23:32]
    .
"For he created all things that they might be: and he made the nations of the earth for health: and there is no poison of destruction in them, nor kingdom of hell upon the earth."[Wisdom 1:14]
    .
"But being accused for this to Eupator by his friends, and being oftentimes called traitor, because he had left Cyprus which Philometor had committed to him, and coming over to Antiochus the Illustrious, had revolted also from him, he put an end to his life by poison." [2 Machabees 10:13]
    .
"But the tongue no man can tame, an unquiet evil, full of deadly poison." [James 3:8]

Yes this one..my mother taught me this prayer, we said every night along with the family Rosary.
Now I say with my own children every day, so another generation it is passed down.
St. Joseph appeared at Fatima, he is definitely a Saint for our times, and this is our way of honoring him, and asking him for grace for our family. We definitely need it.
