  • If you want to get to know God better so you can love Him and serve
Him then you should go on St Ignatius Retreat.  I learned so much in 5 days about the Catholic faith.  The hard part was general confession.   It was awesome we prayed the divine office, the Rosary Assisted at Mass.  We learned how to pray better and meditate.  We spent time with nature.   We had conferences and instruction.  We even had time to talk to a priest one on one.
It was the longest time way from my husband and our farm.  I'm glad I made the sacrifice for God and our Blessed Mother.   I even lost 10 pounds.
There was instruction about Heaven and Hell.....

I was down the hall from a room which had the Pheiffer family name on the front door of one of the rooms.
I prayed for them and Fr. Pheiffer and all of you too.

May God bless you and keep you

I'd love to make another (sspx-Ignatian) retreat, however, there haven't been any women's retreats scheduled during my school breaks since Spring of 2008.  The few that coincide with weeks off are always for men or married couples!
It would be good if they'd swap men's and women's retreat weeks every other year.
But I guess it isn't God's Will right now.

  • In the SSPX sermon section there are six (so far) of Fr. Pfeiffer's retreat conferences which are well worth listening to.

Here is a youtube converter so they can be downloaded.

Thanks!  I've already listened to them last week.  They ARE excellent!  My problem is not in hearing them but in having the time required to actually RETREAT while on the retreat at the same time as Fr. is giving it!
p.s.  Re: the first conference, If you tell Fr. Pf., "I'm here to help," and actually MEAN it, you won't have the opportunity to "retreat"!  Of course, the up-side of that is having very limited opportunity to sin except through omission due to physical exhaustion!

  • What surprises me most about this thread is learning that health and nutrition are discussed at these retreats.  I would not have expected that.  When I attended an SSPX retreat in Ridgefield, CT in November 2009, we had meals, of course -- including wine after our general confession -- but we did not discuss health and nutrition.

     :dancing-banana: :scratchchin:Hmmmm... That IS a good question.
The only words I've heard from Fr. Pfeiffer regarding nutrition are, "Prepare me some vittles," and, "Bring me the hot sauce, Madam!"  With regard to health, I've heard him say, "God has a head replacement program, so if you lose your head, no problem!"

Fascinating. This explains a great deal.

  • Yes, this thread should be transferred to the sspx subforum, but I think only Matthew can do that, so until he notices that this needs to move we are stuck with it here.

     :dancing-banana:
It was quoted in the spring issue of Gaudium, the O.L. of Mt. Carmel Seminary newsletter.  He referred to serious loss of health by martyrdom, specifically, by beheading.
