  • My copy of the best Q&A just arrived (from angelus press) and the position from 2000 remains unchanged. And I do agree with it.

I did mention what that SSPX priest told me just for the record. Also another SSPX priest asked same question said that he does not know the answer.

I’ve long ago posted scanned pics of the 2009 edition of the book, and several other members who n possession of it have corroborated the pics and Fr. Scott’s article.

While I agree that my last comment lacked certain quality (both content and grammar) which I posted it on a whim after receiving the book, it is beyond me why you jump into a conclusion that the only reason I purchased it was to verify content of the scans.

  • An eye witness account from someone that was at Fr. Loop's conference in Post Falls:

At the end of the talk, approximately half of the audience — perhaps less — applauded. Many seemed to be confused. A smaller minority seemed either disappointed or angry. Reactions since that time among those who have mentioned the matter to me have included disappointment and resignation, though there have been at least a couple of faithful who don’t wish to get too involved in the issue, which they feel is above their ability to discern.

Shame on them.  That's just an easy out, and they really have no business having children, if they can't take the time to try to figure out basic faith and morals.  "Baa, baa, let the priests tell us!"   That ideology may have worked 1,000 years ago, but it now longer applies.  Not now, not after Vatican II.  People need to use their brains and think of what falls in line with Catholic tradition.

On this issue, although I have formed my conscience, we do have different Traditional priests (and groups) holding slightly different opinions on the subject.  Until the vacuum of Church authority caused by the Vatican II collapse, it was never expected for lay people to be theologians.  If they asked their confessors, and they told them something, unless they knew otherwise, they would do no wrong in simply following the advice, which, if it happened to be wrong, was on the priest.  That's why it's so important for priests to be properly trained and not enough for them to be pious.  It's a terrible lack of charity to ordain an ignorant priest, because in so doing you're endangering THEIR souls.

Sean, do you recall where that link is here?  Don't go to too much trouble, but I wouldn't mind having another look.  It's been some time since I've read it.

    Hi Ladislaus-

I will have to dig for the link, but attached to this post are the pics from the book of Fr. Scott's 2000 article that I uploaded to that thread.
