I have some shade garden beds. Really frustrating. The tree managed to grow over them. I won't cut the branches because I like the tree a lot, and I'm a little burned out on gardening anyway.
So...
In the shade, I often grow carrots and potatoes. Potatoes, especially, beause it is cooler in the shade, and they do better when it is cooler. Mint, of course. I have a nice sturdy Rosemary bush growing in the shade.
In regards to wild foods, I've had lots of poke salat pop up in my shade beds. So you can always try growing that if you're brave enough. Just remember to boil it three times or you'll die.
