You failed to mention we live only 20 minutes from New Braunfels, where Wurstfest takes place every year.
A bit more about Wurstfest --
We've gone there several times. New Braunfels -- sounds kind of German, doesn't it? Well it is. It's named after Braunfels, Germany. Very German-settled area, which extends to where we live (near Marion). Indeed, my wife's family is part of that phenomena. Fortunately, my wife's family is a branch of CATHOLIC Germans. There are a bunch of Lutherans around this area, though.
Ironically, we never go to Wurstfest these days, since we have too many young kids to indulge in such "fun" and besides we're trying to conserve money so we can save up for luxuries like a garage. (We have 5 acres of land, but no garage, attic, or basement. Not even a utility room! No storage space of any kind in the house.)
Wurstfest is so famous that tourists actually come here to attend it. That, and Schlitterbahn (a water park).
