My wife heard from her mom today, who commutes to San Antonio for work.

Even though there were no cases there, but rather in neighboring Guadalupe county, she said traffic was very light.

In San Antonio, a lot of people stayed home from work today.

In Guadalupe county, the main school district closed all schools for the first of 5 days.

It's nice to see people taking the warnings seriously even if it turns out to only be precautionary.

The local Catholic church in our small town here has cancelled the remaining catechism classes (there was only 1 left) and their usual May Crowning (which involved gathering all the kids for a procession).

Both the local Lutheran church and a neighboring Catholic church had festivals scheduled for this weekend. I know the Lutheran one has been postponed and imagine the other has been as well.

Two more school districts in the area are now closed. Two 'highly probable' flu cases are being evaluated in a neighboring county and so two of the school districts there have cancelled school until at least May 11.

I found this comment under the article amusing:

And now this from a local Catholic church:

At the direction of Comal County and the CDC and a long conversation via phone with Father Tony the decision has been made to cancel Mass and all gatherings of people through this coming weekend. This is not an easy decision to make. The church and the Adoration Chapel will remain open, but at the advice of the local officials the large services and meeting should not be held until they feel they have a handle on this situation.

As of now all Comal County schools including Sts. Peter and Paul are closed for 10 days.
