I’m convinced that if the CDC came out today and said that covid is actually fake and there never was a danger of death or severe illness, but everyone should still get vacks-inated in case the virus ever did get serious, people would still go and get the jab.

My wife and I realized this contradiction the other day when my mom was trying to bar us from seeing my dad due to his illness. She stated that while he's had the shot, he could still get the variant, and since his immune system is already compromised, we need to get it too in order to see him.

But, since it isn't effective against the variant, what would be the point then since he could get it whether or not we have the jab?
