  • I don't know, ggreg.

Tell that to those for whom it works - at times wonders, even.

  • It does not work.

    They just think it does.

If it really worked then it would work in a double blind clinical trial.

Africans think witchcraft works.  Irish gypsies think rabbit's feet work.

Homeopathy is nothing more or less than superstition.

  • Homeopathy makes sense scientifically, just like the explanation for vaccines.  In a vaccine, you give your body a small amount of the illness, so your body can build a resistance to it.

In other areas of science, there is the adage of "like dissolves like".  For instance, if you want to dissolve an oily stain on your shirt, you use soap or an oil-based solution of some kind.  If you want to dissolve blood (which is not oil based), you use a different agent.

In homeopathy, you give your body an agent (i.e. an herb, bacteria, etc) which causes your body to react in the same way as the sickness.  So, if you're experiencing a fever, then you give your body an agent which causes similar symptoms and this speeds up the body's reaction to fight the sickness.

It's been around for a few centuries and is widely practiced in Europe.  I've seen results so i don't see what the big deal is.

  • If it worked then it would demonstrate that in a clinical trial.

    It has never done so.

  • Homeopathy only works if a person is not taking allopathic medicines (synthetic pharmaceuticals) and/or eating and drinking a lot of processed (junk)  foods.

    Lord have mercy.

  • If you ever have a chance to visit New Norcia in Western Australia make sure you take it. Here is an article about Bishop Salvado who introduced homeopathy to Western Australia:

  • Well, you have to admit that most "clinical trials" are bogus, biased and paid-for-in-advance marketing schemes.  Who pays for these clinical trials except the pharmaceutical industry, big medical corps and their bought-and-paid-for friends in the FDA (speaking of america).  Industries who are making TRILLIONS of dollars off of expensive drugs, who have a monopoly on the market and get to define what is/isn't a disesase - these same people malign natural remedies because there's no money to be made.

If you want a true picture of homeopathy, look to europe where such things are commonplace, their diseases are low (because they have socialized medicine and the system can't afford everyone to be as sick as they are in America) and it's part of their culture, since they've used them for centuries.  Americans are both stupid, prideful and lazy when it comes to their health.

  • Homeopathy is irrational nonsense

    https://www.makescienceeasy.com/why-homeopathy-is-nonsense/
    from that link:
    Quote
The real risk of homeopathy is that patients who rely on it are likely to eschew conditional medicine.

In some cases, that wouldn't be all that bad since modern medicine is >50% garbage ... fabricated in many cases just to make profit.  So, for instance, it's been PROVEN SCIENTIFICALLY that chemotherapy has zero benefit for tissue cancers (and only marginal benefits for lymphatic and blood cancers).  Yet they foist it on everybody anyway since there's huge profit to be had.

That does not mean chemotherapy does not work.  Just that the medical and pharma industries are corrupt.
But the homeopathic industry is even more corrupt.  Because they are selling magic water with ZERO effect.  Usually to the poor fools that modern medicine has not yet found a cure for.  All you are buying is water in a bottle with a label.

Nobody can explain and prove how homeopathy works.  It is quakery.

If it wasn't the homeopathic industry could easily afford to pay for a double blind clinical trial by a major university.  They would simply take the most effective homeopathic cure, find a sample of patients publish the results.  They have had 150 years to do this.

They can explain how chemo works.  They can explain why there are side effects.
Smallpox, TB and other major diseases were all reduced or eradicated by medical science.  Quakery like homeopathy never eradicated anything.

  • Follow the money trail

Junk Food -> profit for the processed food industry -> sickness

Sickness -> profit for the pharmaceutical industry -> drugs

Drugs -> side effects -> worsening health + more drugs -> more profits for the pharmaceutical industry

Worsening health -> increasing health costs + nursing home/hospice care + morphine -> death

Did you know that hospice care in the USA, now under Obamacare, mandates that all patients put in hospice have all their meds and supplements withdrawn? The only drugs allowed are expensive pain medications (opoids).

When the patient in hospice care complains of pain and discomfort, they are given increased doses of morphine until they die as morphine use ultimately weakens the heart.

Before my mom entered hospice, she would take daily natural supplements consisting of magnesium malate + pygnogenol + Gota Kola to prevent or relieve pain in her legs and arms. However, this was not allowed in hospice care per Obamacare.

My mom experienced a very painful death in hospice.  They gave her increased doses of morphine whenever she asked for magnesium to relieve the pain in her arms and legs.  Morphine caused her to experience horrific nightmares and horrible rashes as she was allergic to morphine and all opoids. She had specified no morphine, but they did not heed her requests. They would not move her to prevent bed sores because she would wake up crying in pain. She would also scream from the morphine induced nightmares whenever awakened. Thus, she was ignored. Her diapers were not changed but once per day. Thus from lack of proper care, she had bed sores all over her body.  They discovered her cold, stiff, and dead because she was ignored for such a long period of time.

From news reports I have read, bed sores, scabies, and bed bugs are very common in nursing homes and in hospice care throughout the USA.
    Lord have mercy.

  • Americans live in a world of drug ads.

You have drugs for diseases and ailments I have never even heard of.

Loads of Americans I know are pill poppers.  Their bedside tables and bathroom cabinets and often kitchen worktops are full of pills.  I am not sure why you believe the marketing.  Very naïve.

Here in the UK you have to fight the doctor to get antibiotics for you children.  They dont want to prescribe them unless they think you really need them.

I have Aspirin, Paracetemol and Ibuprofen in the house.  I take two pills a couple of times per year if I have really bad aches and pains.  Rest of the time I just soldier on.  Sometimes I drink Lemsip or the generic equivalent.  Does no good, but I just like the taste.  Pretty sure most Brits are like me.  Men don't even go to the doctors for years.  Whenever I go with the children, (my wife is a Russian hypochondriac compared to me), I see women with kids and old people.

Strong coffee and 3 paracetemol is a good alternative to drinking.  I tried it once, it was trippy.

  • If they had an annual MOT test for your health I would probably go.  But I would want a comprehensive check and I would not spend more than 200 dollars.  I would like to die at 70 ideally.  I have a nasty feeling my wife will die first and I will linger well into my 90s.  All my uncles lived close to 100 years old and a couple of them smoked like troopers and drank like fish.  Grandmothers made it to 100 and 102.

Relative to them I lead a healthy life.  Don't smoke, don't drink much at all, weight is dropping now I am on 16-8 which is suited to my life. Do bugger all exercise apart from walking.  Used to run marathons, 5000 and 10000 as a teenager.

My wife's ancestors all drop dead in their 70s from strokes and related blood pressre stuff, like they spring a leak internally.  If she dies slightly before me that would be better because she thinks and says she will be sad and lonely without me.  I have never been bothered by death.  Lost my mother at 18 and my brother at 26 (he was a monk and was killed by French paramedics malpractice).  Did not phase me.  Death happens, I just get on with it.  I have never thought that people wouldn't die, so when they die I am not surprised or shocked by it.  Time to live, time to die.

Her father died last year.  Slim, handsome man, looked 50 was 67, had a stroke, had another in a few months, dead a year later.

Wife is as fit as a fiddle mind you.  112lbs and runs 5km races every Saturday.  Gym junky.  But you cannot outrun your genes.  I tease her everytime I buy wood.  Tell her I am making her coffin.

The worst thing for me will be in 2060 seeing Pope Francis III canonising some socialist faggot and still being in this miserable malaise.

That is only 40 more years.  We have been in it for 50!

I have this nagging feeling I will be around to witness it.
