  • The Paleo diet it a diet that consists of the food of a caveman: meat, veggies, fruit, mushrooms and roots. Its' supporters say that it's the healthiest diet. But food like grains, dairy, potato, legumes, alcohol and refined food. Okay, we can leave refined food, but the pro-Paleos are saying that the Neolithic food causes the diseases of civilization (like, diabetes, etc).
    But in my opinion this diet is harmful. Some scientists consider it as a fad diet, but I'm concerned about the ban on grains and  alcohol, because it interferes with Communion, especially in the case of a priest. Plus, IMO it has a harmful message of primitivism and tribalism. It links to the primal lifestlye which has connection to anarcho-primitivism.
    So, as it's a Traditionalist forum, it's possible that there are creationists arond here, so it seems like that this diet is more harmful than I think.
    What do you think? Is the Paleo diet compatibile with the Catholic faith?

  • I don't know.  I do believe that food portions in USA has increased.  I was doing weight watchers for some time. I don't like the new point system.  

    I'm just going to track my calories and watch my portions.  Some friends that are fit told me that protein at every meal is important.     I lost 5 pounds already.  I'm also going to switch doctors that will meet my medical needs too.  And maybe keep local doctor only for emergencies.   It is really hard to find a doctor instead of drug pusher*LOL*.  


    This breakfast-- 3 scramble eggs
    fruit smoothie with protein why and water.
    just finished up bowl of oatmeal with raisins.

  • sometimes when you are hungry is because you are not hungry but thirsty.  Drink plenty of water.  (I gave up sodas)  MaybeI might have soda as a treat.
    Exercize is good too.   And of course do more praying to God and the Rosary.

    Fish is good for you. Bison and venison.  Everything in moderation.

  • Google "traditional foods diet" (great name, huh?) or Weston Price.  

    This eating style uses the Paleo principal but allows whole grains, just soaked or sprouted. Legumes are okay too, but there are ways to prepare them that maximum nutrient absorption and remove the harmful components.  Raw dairy, produce, bone broths, healthy fats, and fermented foods are emphasized.

  • I'm not really sure what to say about this diet really. I mean there are a lot of plants and animals that we as humans could never eat, so just because God made it, doesn't mean it's going into our bellies.

    I can say for sure, though, that alcohol, which has taken a rather bad rap these last few decades, has been shown to have numerous health benefits (just google them), some of which I think are only possible by means of alcohol. Science is slow; it's moving at a snail's pace, and still has a galaxy to cross when it comes to the human body. They'll probably find something similar for grains.

    In regards to being a responsible man, would it be interesting to learn, after six years of accuмulating all the wisdom you could, that you had it right all alon

  • the most I have ever done is 72 hours with no food, and only water. Some of the effects I noticed is that I lost 10 pounds, food tasted better, and my digestive tract felt very clean.

    I personally cannot do such a fast because of my obligations. When you fast, your mind becomes more open, receptive, and contemplative, making it a very powerful tool for prayer and meditation. However, the downside is that your reasoning and logic are cut in half because of the lack of fuel and nutrients the brain is getting (such as the b vitamins, which only stay in your body 4 hours after digestion). As a college student, I can't afford to do that. Maybe during summer vacation, but not now.

  • Since Lent is coming, I had to dig up this topic:
    If evolution is a lie, then the Paleo diet shouldn't be followed, even on the Lent. It teaches evolution, degrading to a primitive level, etc. If Jesus gave us Communion, then we shouldn't reject It. Reject the dietary fads instead.

  • Can't see how wheat or other grains could be bad since they are featured so prominently in the Bible.  Indeed, the Host is to be made of only wheat flour and water.  Jesus would never promote something unhealthy.  Same with wine.  These He chose to transubstantiate into His Body and Blood.  He could have chosen anything, I suppose.

  • He'd never promote unhealthy things, but the secular society promotes unhealthy fads. Like, some promote esotery or occult, yoga and karate are "cool". If Jesus Christ chose wheat, then must be a reason for it. But the devil never sleeps and tries every means to attack Jesus, the Church, Eucharist, etc. Then you should reject the Paleo, and even the gluten-free fads. I think that Jesus has more power and could do more than watching people losing their communincablity.  Many have lost their opportunity due to the post-concilliar shift. But what is the point of living in Trad Land when a disease bars you of Communion?

    Your health has much to do with your genes.  My uncle was 97 when he died.  He ate bacon,  saugage, scrapple and eggs for breakfast.  He never ate fruit or vegetables.  He ate ice cream every night for a snack.  My mother is 92 and eats everything and she is very healthly.  My father's first cousins were 97 and 100 years of age when they died.  My grandparents on both sides were in their 90's when they died.  They ate everything.

    When people eat food that spikes their blood sugar, things like grains, rice, breads, pasta, it turns into glucose.  If people are not moving and burning it off, it will lead to weight gain and the body must produce more insulin to deal with the sugars in the blood.

    So, grains are not bad in and of themselves, but if you eat foods that are high on the glycemic index, and you live a sedentary lifestyle, you are setting yourself up for weight gain and diabetes.

    The Paleo and Primal diets do work and are especially good for controlling blood sugar levels.  They may even be enough for type 2 diabetics to stop or reduce their medications.

    By saying that I am not anti-grain.  Grains are a gift from God to mankind, because they are easy to grow, easy to store, and have a very long storage life.  They are the perfect food for famines as the Bible teaches us, remember the story of Joseph.

    But, when you eat a diet with grains, just remember to move around a bit, take a walk, work on the garden, or whatever else to burn off the sugars.

    Read this whole thread and this is the only posting that is accurate. By the way, the Atkins diet (It is similar to the Paleo diet , but not as strict) relieves/removes stiffness in joints. On the Atkins diet I could jump up from sitting for 2 hours and take off walking fast, and even run, without any hesitation. On a regular diet (we eat healthy anyways) with carbs and sugars, I can't do that without passing through the stiffness and joint pain phase.
