Omega-3 ALA, EPA, DHA

I found some good articles on the Omega-3's that I thought I'd share.

As a side note, I found these with the goal of finding benefits of ALA (ALpha-linolenic Acid, which is found in high amounts in flaxseed oil), which apparently is either underrated or has had little research done on. The best I can say for it is that Harvard performed a 10 year study on ALA for 50,000 women and found that it significantly decreased depression in these people, at least according to Wikipedia and a few other websites. I personally am taking some myself, and I think it is helpful for unwanted thoughts and such.

Anyway, here is a list of articles about the different Omega-3's

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC533861/ <--- that article I thought was particularly helpful since it delves into the science more than the others.

by the way, I've been taking flaxseed oil for about three weeks and I have had a TON of energy. I am actually being proactive in my studies for the first time since middleschool. I can handle stress much easier and still have energy to pursue other intellectual activities. I went almost 12 hours of almost nonstop academics the other day and STILL felt like going, only I stopped myself. This just goes to show how incredibly important omega-3 is important to your health and well-being. I am probably energetic by nature so that's why it had that effect on me, but it will most likely have a positive effect on virtually anyone. You will find your old habits, inclinations, and personality coming back to you. Things that no longer interest you as time went by will suddenly become interesting again. You might find yourself picking up old hobbies again, etc.

I was using Royal Harvest Flax oil (8 bucks a bottle, will last about a week), but I switched to NOW Certified Organic Flaxseed oil since it seemed like I would get more for my buck. It was about 10 bucks but about 50 percent more flaxseed. I've been told it's good quality as well.

Also, it helps to take it with some minerals like zinc and magnesium, as well as the b vitamins.

I generally take 2 tablespoons a day; one in the morning, one in the evening.
