Title: NO BIRDS?
Post by: roscoe on February 14, 2024, 05:45:16 PM
I am not sure where to post this so it goes here. My location is about 1/2 mile north of LA International Airport.

A few days ago( after the last rains) I noticed that about 95% of the birds( Sea Gulls, Wrens, Crows etc) have VANISHED. There is not a bird in the sky as far as the eye can see. Others are noticing this as well: there has apparently been some kind of catastrophy. I am not the only one who has noticed this.

Did they leave due to the storms and then will come back?

Maybe some sort of seasonal migration. The weather is about to warm up, so maybe it has something to do with that.

This is about as funny as most other leftist "jokes". Does anyone actually think that "birds aren't real" thing is funny?

I found it mildly amusing for what it was, but was also able to see that it is an attempt to assert that anyone who challenges the secular status quo is a kook.

I am not so serious-minded, that I can't find some humor and irony, even in movements that I agree with.  It is the "left" that can't tolerate even the mildest parody of itself.  But Saturday Night Live, in recent years, has been capable of skewering politicians all across the political spectrum.  Some of their more piquant satire has been of a caliber I'd more associate with British or French TV.

Please, God, let humor be a trend among trads.

I have been in this neighborhood for about 40 years & have never seen anything like what is happening. This is Not a normal migration.

Towers for cell phones?  Chem trails?
Pollution?   Man made bird diseases?

Trees are dying rapidly too.

 Humans too.

It was my understanding that these storms were very rare.

If it wasn’t that, could there be an impending large earthquake?  Animals sense such things.  Any other animals behaving strangely?

I don’t believe that it’s cell towers or anything like that, since they’ve been around forever, and this sounds like it was very dramatic and sudden.

Yes, it probably depends on the type of bird, but I was doing some reading.  Perhaps some have fled to the hills for a time. Some have probably just perished along with any nests.  It might take some time for things to get back to normal.

As a bird lover, this is terrible news.  I can't imagine living without the birds.

I remember that dream/prophecy someone posted about the american guy who had a vision about the future America, specifically the West.  He saw California and right before this huge, massive earthquake destroyed it all.  He specifically mentioned walking down the streets in Cali and not hearing any birds.  He asked a few people on the sidewalks about it, but he said they were like zombies and didn't understand anything he was saying.

Yes, I've posted it here before.

Story is that a young man fell off his horse in 1937 and suffered some head injuries, and then repeatedly had these visions (each time was a continuation of the previous one).  If real, there are some comments that he made about society that he could not have known in 1937.

https://www.endtimemessage.org/general-articles/391-1937-vision-of-the-coming-earthquake

He did, however, mention seeing the US President at the time of the earthquakes:
Quote
I saw a newspaper on the corner with a picture of the president. It surely wasn’t Mr. Roosevelt. He was bigger, heavier, big ears.

Sounds like he could be talking about Trump, and so if Trump gets re-elected in 2024.  Or it could be that he misunderstood the article, where there was a picture of Trump on the newspaper and the newspaper referred to him in the capacity of having been the former President (since Trump is in the news as running for the office).

Here's the section about the birds ...
Quote
At first, I couldn’t figure it out, I didn’t know what it was-then I did. THERE WERE NO BIRDS. I listened. I walked two blocks north on the Blvd…All houses…no birds. I wondered what had happened to them. Had they gone away? Where? Again, I could hear the stillness. I had never experienced anything like it. I listened…just the stillness.

There have been some earthquake swarms in California in recent days, including some relatively big ones on February 12 that some were wondering whether they were foreshocks to a big one.  2/12 had the 4.8, 4.1, two 3.6s, 3.5, and 3.3 ... and OP started this thread on February 14 (two days after those).

I have not felt any EQ's but the birds disappeared after the big storm last week. It probably has to do with that. So far this AM I have seen exactly 1 bird-- a hummingbird.

I noticed this phenomenon about 24 hrs after the biggest storm we have had( & there have been at least a few in the recent past) in the last 30 yrs. It has to have something to do with that.

Rainfall for 2014-2023 averaged about 5 - 8 inches/year, very dry, but last year in our area in Michigan we had about 40 inches. Seems like the sun didn't shine and it rained every day. The birds left to fly south maybe a few weeks earlier than normal but that was about it. Too bad to because they could have continued their smorgasbord on mosquitoes if they would have stuck around another few weeks.

But what pretty much all but disappeared around here were the little critters normally spotted during the day like rabbits, raccoons, squirrels, frogs etc. but the birds were around, they just left early.

How much rain did you guys get over there?

The recent rains were the heaviest I have seen here in 30 yrs. I am guessing that we had about 10 inches over a 4 or 5 day period. UPDATE-- this Am I see exactly 1(one) bird.

When I first got up there was 1 Dove. In the past 4 hrs I have seen also a crow & another Dove( may have been the same one) for a grand total of 3. The sky is completely empty...

There are almost always a couple of wrens chirping in the trees when I open my bedroom window in AM. I have not heard them since b4 this all started-- they are gone as well.

For what it's worth...

We have had rain and snow but still been swamped with flocks of birds EVERYWHERE!

Even our little toddler has been amazed by how many birds have been around and has been pointing to them when we go for rosary walks.

I think that this happens for us every year right before spring.  There are lots or seeds and berries in our area which the migratory birds like to feed on.

Update-- there are NO BIRDS OF ANY KIND in the air or on any telephone wire AS FAR AS THE EYE CAN SEE near LAX.

I drove along the beach from El Segundo to Playa Del Rey a couple hrs ago and did not see even 1 Sea Gull where there would normally be hundreds or even a thousand. There are NO wrens or Pigeons anywhere-- 1 or 2 crows maybe.

This is not a normal migration as few birds leave the already temperate climate here in So Cal

Birds don't have placentas.

I'm lost here.  This seems like a non sequitur.

But I've been noticing lately, and you know, there aren't hardly any birds anymore.  Wonder if 5G could have anything to do with it.

If all the birds were dying, though, you'd see a lot of bird carcasses, I'd think, and you don't.  If that is the reason, maybe 5G repels them without killing them, and they just go somewhere that doesn't have 5G towers.

As good an explanation as any.

The expression non sequitur brings to mind another poster who regularly drops one.

Put out bird feeder.  Fill it with black sunflower seeds.  Walmart has reasonable bird food, suet and feeders and bird bath with water.

And pray to our God that they return.
