  • Has anyone here gone to or is going to one?

Have you had more success with them than conventional big pharm doctors?

  • Yes. All pharma-doctors want to do is prescribe pharmas. They get brownie points for  it. The medical schools are funded by big pharma and so that's what they get for training. The more drugs you are on the happier it makes them. They seem to think that they are "doing something". In fact the pharmas increase the risk to organ damage.

I have had very good results from a long-term condition that pharma-doctors are unable to treat let alone improve.

  • Nadir, thank you for answering.

I have no trust in doctors or their medicines.  I saw an ND advertise on the back of a trad chapel bulletin and was thinking of going to him.  The only drawback is, of course, that no insurance covers him.

  • Yes, insurance is an issue, at least in America.

I have no insurance. When I go to see our local GP I am bulk-billed. That means I do not pay any money, just my signature on a claim form by which the medical centre draws their payment from Medibank.

But if I need to see a specialist, generally I have to hand over money the day of the consultation. I was quoted $200 for a "first" consultation. A "first" consultation means that it's more than a year since I have seen him.

I already know what he will have in store for me. He will insist that if I don't take pharma blood thinners I will have a stroke. I've been told that for over 20 years. If he writes me a script I will not fill it.

I already take my own self-prescribed blood thinners, like root ginger, garlic, cayenne etc. Besides they never check your prothombin ratio before prescribing, only while your on blood thinners.

When I go to a naturopath, I pay. For a first visit, which lasted an hour and was very thorough, asking questions that doctors never even seem to consider, I paid $90. Follow up was $60. I also had to pay for a homeopathic remedy, which was not expensive. I am greatly improved. He is getting (or should I say has got) to the root of my problem.

Of course, depending on your problem there are ways you can "naturopath" yourself. Why not give it a try? Why not give him a try?

  • Hurray Nadir!  I like the staff at "Sprouts".  If it were not for them/knowledge, free, I would still have high tryglicerides.  Not any more!  No doctor helped me, just trying to push the statins.  And thank God for the internet for free advise and directions.

  • Songbird, last time I went to the GP she gave me a script for statins, just because my levels were a tinsy bit above the high normal. I don't even argue. I just take the script and throw in the bin. She told me we would have to keep a watch out for "something or other" (I don't remember now). If "something or other happens" she will give me something else. Oh indeed!

So I should fix that with a little weight loss. As my son told me the other day: Advent is coming up!

  • A naturopathic doctor cured me.  I had been to an urgent care and a couple of days later with no relief went to the ER.  Still no relief, I went to a naturopathic and had some relief before I even left his office, and completely well a couple of days later.

  • I have always preferred more natural medicine and have gone more of the homeopathic/natural medicine route for the most part since I was a child.

  • It's worth a shot I guess.

The best thing is that I found him because he is a member apparently of a traditional Catholic chapel who advertised in the weekly bulletin.   He has a Facebook page.  Even though I am not (thanks be to God!) mercifully on FB, I was able to partially view his page and see that several members of the chapel "like" his posts.

  • Nadir:  I knew a young lady who need welfare and she was single and she was told she had to be on a birth control.  I told her take a script for pills and throw away.  That worked!
