Natural remedies to calm irritated lungs?
« on: May 20, 2022, 01:38:19 AM »
I think I have bronchitis or something.
Been coughing for weeks.
Up till today, I have been getting through it fine enough.
Lungs are quite clear and can breathe, but lungs feel irritated/congested. Coughing doesn't satisfy! No fluid there.
Even yesterday it was different. Even earlier today I was fine.
I probably shouldn't have taken that most recent dose of cough syrup/expectorant. It cleans my lungs out the rest of the way (thins the mucus) but that's not my problem. My problem is bronchial irritation.
Anyhow, I'm "too good" at coughing; being very sensitive, I'm very "aware" of my lungs and always cough to clear them out 100%.

Right now I've thrown almost everything at this, and my lungs are still bothering me. The only thing that gives me a few minutes of relief is popping another cough drop. But I've had too many of those; I need to find another solution.

Any home remedies I can resort to, to get some relief?

Currently trying higher humidity, steam vaporizer w/vicks, some vicks on my chest. The hardest part is taking my mind off my lungs.

Thanks in advance!

I have also had an issue in recent weeks, as did my boss before me.  I am fine now, but it lingered inexplicably.  Are they perhaps playing around with the 5G?  I have been within range of such influences much more of late.

My wife made a home-made medicine that worked well, but she's been asleep for hours now (I closed the restaurant tonight, thus I am awake at 3am).  Will ask her about it in the morn.

Isn't your bronchial irritation due to the coughing?

Far as cough drops go, the best cough drop that really is a cough suppressant is Fisherman's Friend Original Extra Strong, I think the capsicuм (which is the #1 ingredient) + 10mg Menthol is what makes the difference.  These things are strong and *will* stop the cough for longer than any other cough drop I know of - and clear you up quick. You can get them at Rite Aids or one of those, or order online. Halls cough drops are a sugary candy and very weak in comparison.

Try a partial teaspoon of horse radish, or as much as you can stand a few times a day. It's a rough way to go but unlike peppers/capsaicin, the heat from horseradish has vapors that can work their way into the membranes, or use ginger, it's a bit weaker but kinda does the same thing.

You could try an anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen so assess whether it's due to inflammation.

But I've had cases of bronchitis before where the cough lingered literally for months.
